Crafting is something I love to do with my children and also when young guests here. It keeps them entertained and gives them something to take home. So last week, we invited our friends around to our house to do spring craft and make a Mothers Day gift before we went to watch Big Hero 6.
Last week, I blogged about how I made a book folding sheep for myself and I also bought a book for my son. He needed a lot of my help to fold the pages and took much longer. He managed to slightly tear the top of many pages and some pages are not very neat. Nevertheless, this is his book. I asked him what he wanted to make out of it and he wanted make a pig as he was born in the Year of the Pig in the Chinese lunar calendar. So I made him a book folding Peppa Pig!

Last week, we have been spending family time at home doing a lot of arts and crafts. I hope this New Year I will be able to bring you more Chinese craft ideas and baking too!
Not long now before the end of the year and then we will be welcoming the New Year 2015. Instead of a quiet New Year, we are going to make a lot of noise this year. We made these paper plate New Year Drums to play. It is very simple to make but it does require a few hours in total to make.
Mr K is a huge fan of Skylanders and with the new additional, Trap Team, our collection is getting bigger and bigger. Early last month, his aunty bought him the Trap Team kit for his birthday. Yesterday, we were sent this fun Christmas kit to create our very own Skylanders Christmas snow globe.

Last week, while I was looking to buy a piping book, I came across a pack of round origami sheets at The Works. So I decided to use it to make paper snowflakes. As the weather has turned cold, this is a great craft for a winter theme and to use the snowflakes to decorate around the Christmas tree or windows! To make these paper snowflakes, you will need the following.
Last month, I blogged about the paper cut Jack-O-Lantern and bat for a Halloween display. They are great as a banner. Today, I am cutting tulips and flower borders using the book by Kai Iwami called Paper Cut Planet.

Beados Quick Dry Design Studio is a new product from Character Online which is suitable for children aged 4+. This set is perfect if your child would like their creations to dry faster to start the next one. Beados are small plastic colourful beads which can be used to make pictures and then you use water to fuse them together and you can place under a fan to help your creations dry even faster. It comes with simple templates to follow and it lets you create all kinds of creatures or objects.
Cutting paper is one of my favourite childhood crafts. I still remember fondly helping my mother to cut the Chinese characters to paste onto food items for offering to the Buddha and his followers.
This summer, we had so much fun and laughter! We did the summer activities A – Z and holidayed in Singapore! But not forgetting our Skylanders! They are still one of the PS3 games my son Mr K loves! He has targeted getting all the characters in each element by saving his pocket money. Over the summer, there are quite a few character deals online and he bought some to add into his collection.

Check out this epic sand sculpture of Kaos! How cool is that! His minions created to honour their boss on Gandia Beach in Spain! This is such an awesome sand sculpture! I bet a lot of fans would love to take a photo with him!
In our summer activities A – Z letter L, we did two craft posts which is the egg box lion and egg box lion mask. This is how we did it. I had a few half dozen cardboard egg boxes laying around for a weeks which came in handy for this craft.
