Chong Li Primary School Report Book

Ever since Mr K started preparing for his A-Level examinations, and after watching the Korean drama Teach You a Lesson on Netflix, I suddenly found myself thinking about my childhood schools. That led me to do some research on my primary school, Chong Li Primary School. I would not say my time there holds my best memories, but neither was it the worst.

Chong Li Primary School was established in 1981. In January 1982, it moved into its own building on Ang Mo Kio Street 44 and was officially opened in September 1983.

Fun and Educational Online Activities to Boost Kids’ Skills

Look at what most children do with their time online, and you can easily think that it is nothing but noise, videos, games, and endless scrolling. To be fair, much of it is. But that space can be used differently.

The internet is not the problem. It is the passive use of what could be an incredible resource.

If you take the time to seek activities that capture your child’s attention while developing crucial skills, things change quickly. The screen goes from a low-value distraction to a path toward something greater.

Relive Singapore’s Kopitiam Culture at Play Nation, Marina Square

This year, Singapore celebrates its 60th year of independence, and in true creative style, Play Nation joined in the fun with a nostalgic pop-up stall at Marina Square. The pop-up features a range of kopitiam-inspired plushies, quirky collectibles, and other local treasures.

My son was the one who discovered it on Instagram and insisted we check it out. So off we went—and sure enough, as soon as we reached the foyer on Level 2, we were greeted by a charming, old-school kopitiam-themed setup that instantly transported us back in time.

VICTA Summer Family Weekend 2023

Last week, we went to the VICTA summer family weekend at Kingswood, Colomendy with our buddy dog, Mabel. This was our second time participating in these activity weekends organised by VICTA. The first time we went was last year at Dearne Valley.

Wild Garlic

I first came across wild garlic when I won a vegetable box through a local food and vegetable business ten years ago. Since then, my husband is always looking out for it but it’s not something you find in your local supermarket.

Garden Family Sleepover – Wild Night Out

Did you know that a quarter of UK adults are classed as physically inactive and only a third of children in Britain spend more than an hour a day outdoors? This is why, in 2016, Explorers Connect founder Belinda Kirk started the Wild Night Out. Millets have gotten behind it and once a year, they encourage people of all ages to get outside and enjoy the outdoors for the evening. This year’s Wild Night Out fell on the 29th June 2019. Did you join in too?

UK Speedcubing Championship 2017

Are you a huge fan of Rubik’s Cube? Then don’t miss the UK Speedcubing Championship 2017 that will be taking place at The Forum, Stevenage on 27th – 29th October 2017. As this is the UK Championship, only competitors representing the United Kingdom will be eligible for prizes. However, the competition remains open for all nationalities to compete. Do check it out!

There will be 18 official events to be held. There is a time limit and if you take longer than this on a single solve you will be stopped, and given a DNF result for that attempt. For more information, do check out UK Cube Association.

Rubik’s Cube is incredibly addictive and has fascinated fans since it arrived way back in 1980. I think most households have had at least one at some point! It was my sister’s favourite puzzle of all time.

Quest at Intu Merry Hill

Quest is a safe, fun-packed activity centre for all ages.  They are located inside the Intu Merry Hill shopping mall which is also around the corner to Debenhams.  There are plenty of free car parks situated around the mall.  Now you have more reasons to go shopping there while leaving your husband/partner with the children at Quest.

There are six unique attractions to choose: Mini Golf, Nerf Blaster Target Range, Sky Tykes Low Ropes Course, Altitude High Ropes Course, Yu Kids Adventure Soft Play and Nerf Arena.  As we were there for an exclusive blogger event, there were less crowds as it was before general public opening hours.

Happy 8th Birthday to Mr K

Mr K is eight year old now! Time passes so quickly. I still remember how difficult he was as a baby. A lot of the sleepless nights were caused by his reflux which thankfully he grew out of.

For his birthday weekend, we went to a golf lesson at our local golf driving range on Saturday. This was Mr K’s second lesson and he is currently obsessed with it. Now his Christmas list is to own a proper set of junior golf clubs. Well, we shall see!

Birthday Wish List

I can’t believe my daughter is going to be six next month and she has been to writing out a long list for her birthday wish list. If money was not a problem for her, she would probably buy the whole toy shop plus a few pets like dogs, cat and ponies! She is a charming and persistent girl who would trick you to buying her presents. Hence I hardly take them to toy stores and prefer to shop online! Last time, for my birthday outing, I inexplicably bought her a My Little Pony castle and it was not on sale! So I try to shop online for toys as much as possible. I need to try to be more sensible and not be influenced by the children!
