Milo Tiramisu

Ever since I learnt how to make Tiramisu via Sacla Cookery School (read my Sacla Aubergine Parmigiana’s recipe here), I wanted to try it out! So I finally I got around to it!

This is my first time making Milo Tiramisu and it works! The best of it is that I didn’t even use raw egg white. I find it hard to make tiramisu with raw egg white as I am not used to eating raw food. So I swapped it with mascarpone instead. I know that you can buy pasteurised egg whites which would be better in this recipe. The product is called Two Chicks but not many places sell it near us. I couldn’t find it in Tesco or Morrisons but managed to find it in Waitrose.

This will take only 30 minutes to make and you need to let it rest overnight before you serve.

How to make a perfect SMore

We just had the most perfect weekend! Sunshine and a lot of outdoor activities! With the promise of nice weather, we quickly hurried down to our local supermarket to stock up on BBQ food, flour to make pitta pockets and the most important thing – buying a BBQ pit!

Rhubarb Crumble

Rhubarb CrumbleThis recipe is for Red Tractor #RTChallenge.

This is my third recipe using the hamper full of delicious Red Tractor Assured ingredients they provided.  We used the British grown rhubarb from Waitrose and British butter from Morrisons.  My husband took this recipe from BBC Goodfood but modified it slightly.

How to cook a perfect pancake using the right tools

I have to admit that I am not a brilliant pancake maker but using the right kitchen tools does help to cut down waste, time and make a perfect pancake. Not long ago, I received the Pyrex granate pancake pan, an OXO turner, OXO batter dispenser and a bottle of Clarks Maple syrup. You can read from my past blog post on how I did the pancake challenge with those items and how I used Clarks maple syrup in smoothies.

These are the ingredients you need:

  • 100g sifted plain flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 300ml milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • Butter for frying

Honey Dried Pink Lady Apple Crisps

Early this week, we went to shopping in Morrisons and could not find any Fuji or Gala apples available. They are my husband’s favourite choices for red apples. So he decided to try the Pink Lady as an alternative. However, the apples were slightly too acidic for him. Mr C has sensitive teeth and cannot take any fruits that are a bit sour. So I decided to use the apples to make Honey Dried Pink Lady Apple Crisps. We were given a Pink Lady apple for our Bloggers’ Night In and I think they are crunchy, juicy and tangy. I remember I came across their recipes on their site and I think this will go down very well with the kids too!

How to make a Witch Hat

Halloween is approaching and I have been thinking up things to do with my children. Ms C’s teacher has given her a workbook to share what she did over the weekend or things she could do. So I remembered a very simple recipe to make a witch’s hat using an ice cream cone.
Ice cream cones are one of Ms C’s favourite snacks. She only likes to eat the cone and not the ice cream. Having said that, last week, she finally tried ice cream and managed to finish one whole ice cream.
To make a witchs hat, you need:
– Ice cream cone
– Baking/Cooking Chocolate
– Sprinkles
Firstly, you can melt the chocolate in a bowl which you put over a saucepan or in the microwave. Once the chocolate has melted, use it to coat the ice cream cone. Quickly place it on a tray laid with foil. Ask your little helper to decorate it with sprinkles.

My Ice Cream Challenge with ebuyer

I am always up for a new challenge or competition especially cooking or baking. As many will know, I am from Singapore and since I was brought up in an Asian country, my preferred style of is mostly Asian food.

Tin Can Ice Cream by Sue Quinn

A few weeks ago, I reviewed The Kids Only Cookbook by Sue Quinn and mad my own popcorn with my children. Today, we made ice cream using a Tin Can and it was amazing!
Since the sun was out today, we decided to cycle to our nearby Waitrose and bought the ingredients that we needed. They are:
1. 250 ml Double cream
2. 250 ml Single cream
3. 4 Tablespoon Caster sugars
4. 1 Tablespoon Vanilla essence
5. A packet of Salt
