Beados Quick Dry Design Studio Review

9 September 2014 by Eileen

Beados Quick Dry Design Studio is a new product from Character Online which is suitable for children aged 4+. This set is perfect if your child would like their creations to dry faster to start the next one. Beados are small plastic colourful beads which can be used to make pictures and then you use water to fuse them together and you can place under a fan to help your creations dry even faster. It comes with simple templates to follow and it lets you create all kinds of creatures or objects.

Inside the box, it comes with:

  • 500 beads
  • Quick dry station
  • 6 design templates
  • Layout tray
  • 2 base trays
  • Water sprayer
  • Tweezers pen
  • Suction cups and display stands
  • Instructions

It requires two AA batteries which are not included.

This set comes with an amazing 500 beads and a plastic bead case to display the beads. There is also a tweezers pen included, making it even easier to create detailed designs. Both of my children aged 5 and 6 didn’t have any problems using the pen to place the beads onto the layout tray. Occasionally, the beads falls off the pen or the beads move to another gap after placing it but generally, they are easy to place.

There are 6 simple templates to follow. Ms C finds it quite hard to see the design template through the base tray. The base tray is not very transparent. It makes it hard for children with poor eye sight especially Ms C as she has mild visual impairment. Mr K also struggled slightly so he decided to freestyle and made a heart shape.

After both children created their designs, simply fill the sprayer with water and spray the mist of water onto the beads. Place under the fan and it will dry very quickly. It is quite easy to take the designs off without breaking by using the template to slide it through.

Once the designs are dried, they look fantastic! You can use the suction cups provided to display the creations. Both my children enjoyed the flexibility of following a template or creating their own designs. I would recommend them for independent creative play.

Of course, you might even want to make use of the quick dry station to dry your painted nails too!

I like the look of this – I think it is something my son would really enjoy getting creative with.
