Anisha’s Adventures in Bangladesh

Anisha’s Adventures in Bangladesh is a book written by Moinul Islam and is inspired by his daughter Anisha and is dedicated to Anisha and his late father. The book is suitable for age five plus. It is illustrated by Calvin Innes.

My first impression is that this book is very unusual from others. The print quality of the book is great and the text is easy to read. The front and back covers are glossy and each page is made from thick paper. The book itself measures about 22.8 x 19 cm and consists of 48 pages. It is quite a big book for Mr K as he is still learning to read words. So I had to read the book to him. Even though this book is long, the story managed to capture his attention to finish listening to the end.

Personalise Photo Book by love2read

The premise of the personalised photo book by love2read is to help your child develop a love of reading. It does this by presenting photographs which reflect your child’s world and relating them to simple words.  Research shows that if your child loves books they will learn to read much faster and you will be encouraging a lifelong love of reading. The key words in each book are known as “high frequency ” words, which are some of the first words your child will be taught to recognise when they start school.

All you have to do is upload ten suitable photographs into a virtual book at www.love2read.co.uk and add some simple text. Your book will be printed and sent to your home address within 10 days. There are over 80 titles to choose from or you can create your own titles from the website.

The books are themed around National Curriculum keywords and are designed to stimulate the child’s interest in books so that they really want to read. No software is needed, the website is easy to use and you can even save your book as you go along if you need to come back to it later. There is a demo video on each title.

Summer Reading Challenge

I can’t believe that we are almost at the end of the 3rd week of the school summer holidays.  We have been doing a lot of reading and also completed the Staffordshire Libraries Annual Summer Reading Challenge.

The Tots 100 Book Club is where bloggers share their favourite stories. This month, they are going to publish a special edition of the Tots 100 Book Club, in association with Tesco Books, with a round-up of 50 great books to read this summer.

I am a big fan of Julia Donaldson. I love the way she write her books. Her story has beautiful rhymes and illustrations and a clever ending. That’s why I always choose her books for my children.

This Summer, I selected these three books by Julia Donaldson with my children for the Tots 100 Book Club – Summer Reading Challenge:
