Anisha’s Adventures in Bangladesh is a book written by Moinul Islam and is inspired by his daughter Anisha and is dedicated to Anisha and his late father. The book is suitable for age five plus. It is illustrated by Calvin Innes.
My first impression is that this book is very unusual from others. The print quality of the book is great and the text is easy to read. The front and back covers are glossy and each page is made from thick paper. The book itself measures about 22.8 x 19 cm and consists of 48 pages. It is quite a big book for Mr K as he is still learning to read words. So I had to read the book to him. Even though this book is long, the story managed to capture his attention to finish listening to the end.
It is a story about Anisha. It is her birthday and her grandparents had given her two magical necklaces. Besides enjoying the story, I love the fact that Mr K got to learn some culture of Bangladesh. He also picked up some Bangla, the official language spoken in Bangladesh. This book also helped Mr K to learn the Bangladesh Flag, landmarks, cultures etc. It was a great way to introduce younger children to another country.
