Simple Chinese Ang Pow Lantern

23 January 2013 by Eileen 3 Comments

This is a very simple and straightforward Chinese Lantern. You will required these materials:

  • 5 Long Red Packet (Ang Bao)
  • 1 Red String
  • 1 Stapler

Step 1 – Find the mid point of the red packet:

Fold the red packet into half vertically but don’t press the fold all the way down. Instead, just press the two corners on the joint down. Next, open the red packet out again. Then fold the red packet into half horizontal and again only press the two corners on the joint down. Repeat for the rest of the red packets.

Step 2 – Fold each side of the five red packets:

Open all red packets out. From the mid point that we found on the packets make a fold from the top mid point to the left mid point, the left mid point to the bottom mid point, the bottom mid point to the right mid point and from the right mid point to the top mid point. The end result should be four diagonal folds.
