Is that a Coconut? Yuck!

21 August 2012 by Eileen

Is that a Coconut? Yuck! was written by Tony Bradman and illustrated by Katharine McEwen. This is Tony Bradman’s latest children book published on the 6th of August 2012 by Egmont publisher. I was shocked to see that this was printed and bound in Singapore, where I come from.

Is that a Coconut Yuck

Just a little information about the book. It was about 32 pages of paperback book. The font is simple and easy to read by a young school child. Each page is beautifully illustrated.

The story describes a day when a small round hairy thing falls from a tree. It lands right in front of an elephant, then a snake, followed by the lion, then the Giraffe. Each time, the animal thinks that it is a coconut and tosses the small round hairy thing away as they don’t like coconuts! Mama monkey is in hot pursuit of the coconut. When it landed right in front of the Alligator’s snout, the small round hairy thing starts to wake up from sleep as it is fact a baby monkey. The alligator was glad that it is not a coconut and opened his enormous mouth. Before the alligator could get the baby monkey, mama monkey comes and rescues him. It was a narrow escape!

It was a funny story. Mr K was laughing at those silly animals who were so stupid that they couldn’t recognise a baby monkey. This book teaches children 6 different types of animals and 4 different action of throwing. At the end of the story, it shows the mother’s love of her child who is selfless to protect and save her child.

Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher for free. However, they have not paid me for this review, and they do not exercise any editorial control over my review or anything else on this site.
