When I Dream of Christmas was written by Oakley Graham and illustrated by Patricia Yuste. This children’s paperback book was first published on the 1st of September 2012 by Top That! Publishing. It is suitable for ages 3 – 5 years old. There are 27 topics that take children on a magical journey of discovery on the traditions of Christmas. It is a big book (254 mm x 254 mm) and I found that it was easy to hold and turn the pages.
This book kept both of my children engaged throughout especially for my nearly 5 year old son, Mr K. We are not Christian and we don’t celebrate Christmas. He has not been taught about Christian religion in school yet. As we go along the book, he asked a lot of questions like what is a holly, why snowflakes have to fall to the ground etc. It was great to get him thinking.
Each double page of the book consists of a colourful and bright Christmas topic. It is beautiful illustrated. I love every single page! I would love to get a print of the pictures and hang it on the wall or they would also be great as a place mat! I believe all children would love the pictures in the book. They are all so cute and gorgeous! The size of the fonts/text are fairly big and easy to read. This makes a good reading book for early learning. I was able to trace my finger along and Mr Ki have read some of the words very easily. I rate this book 5 stars out of 5. It is very well written and well priced at RRP £6.99.
It was also listed in the Practical Parenting & Pregnancy (Issue – December 2012): 10 cracking Christmas reads!
When I Dream of Christmas is also available to download in Apple iTunes Store. It is free for a limited time only! Hurry and go and download it! It is worth a read.
