The Game Of Saying ‘Huh?!’ Review

5 July 2024 by Eileen

The Game of Saying ‘Huh?! is one of the funniest games we’ve ever played! It’s so amusing, especially playing as a group of eight. Like what the game says, it is not what you say, it is how you say it. It’s quite challenging to express but it’s fun to watch how everyone interprets the word or sentences.

The Game Of Saying Huh Review

This game was created by K. Yonemitsu from Tomy Toys. It is suitable for ages 8 and onwards and for three to a maximum of eight players. Inside this box, it comes with instructions, 30 task cards (yellow background), 8 act cards (turquoise background), 8 voting grids (purple background), 64 letter tokens and 56 scoring chips.

The inner box will convert into a base for placing all the scoring chips and task cards. I’m really not keen on the size of the tokens and scoring chips as they are quite small and not easy to hold. They can get all over the place in the box and misplaced. Also, it doesn’t help that the materials of the tokens and scoring chips are made from thin cardboard. Ideally, if they were made from plastic, they would have a better feel and weight and be longer lasting.

This game is best to play with the maximum of players to get the maximum fun! The object of the game is to score the most points when all players have finished taking a turn.

To set up, deal each player a set of same colour letter tokens (A-H) and one voting grid. Shuffle the eight act cards and distribute one to each player, face down. If there are less than eight players, place any extras out of play. Place one task card into the slot of the inner box to start the game. We find it easier to take a photo of the task card using our mobile phone so that we can individually refer back quickly.

The Game Of Saying ‘Huh!’ task card

Each player secretly views their act card and matches up their tasks by looking at the task card. Now go around the table and each player starts to act out their performance. After each performance, players have to secretly vote using their letter tokens.

As for scoring, after all the players have had a turn, everyone reveals what they voted for Player 1. Player 1 now reveals his/her act card. Players who guessed the correct letter each receive a point. Player 1 also scores, gaining a point for each correct vote received. For example, if 3 players guessed correctly, they would receive 1 point each and the performer receives 3 points. Now continue scoring for Player 2 and so on. The player with the most points wins the game! It is best to have a pen and paper to note down the scoring.

To play the next round, collect all the act cards from the players, shuffle them again and distribute out to all the players. Then reveal the next task card.

I think this game is a great party game and we all enjoyed it. The concept is fun and I would recommend this game. It is available to buy from WHSmith and Amazon.
