The man from the land of Fandango is a book written by Margaret Mahy. The book is suitable for ages five plus. It is illustrated by Polly Dunbar.
I felt that this book is a bit too short for my liking. I also found it hard to understand some of the word like Fandango, tassels, calico etc. The pictures are not very expressive nor colourful.
It is about two young children who draw a picture of a man who has a funny dress sense who came for a call every five hundred years. Then he came out from the picture and had an adventure with the children. They met bears, bison, baboons, kangaroos, dinosaurs on the way and had a party together. I found it quite hard to understand the whole story but I do enjoy the rhymes. This is not a book that I would enjoy reading every day. I would rate this book 2 stars out of 5.
