A big welcome to Week 31 of the Tuesday Tutorials Pintorials Pin Party! Today is the first day back to school for my children! I am so pleased that I will have more time for myself again and start doing more cooking posts!

Yay! We are officially halfway there and we are taking the summer activities very slowly right now. Both children’s energy levels are unrelenting and it’s me who is struggling to keep up!

Welcome to Week 28 of the Tuesday Tutorials Pintorials Pin Party! Last week, we saw a huge number of you had linked up with us. It’s great to get such a great response!

Recently, OXO Good Grips had set me a new challenge to make a salad dressing using their herb mincer and little salad shaker along with a bottle each of Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar.
Since I am from Singapore, I wanted to bring in an oriental blend into Italian food. Mango is one of my favourite fruits. My granddad used to have four mango trees and two rambutan trees in his garden. We always go to his house to pick fresh mangos. Nowadays in supermarkets, it is quite hard to get fresh mangos as they more often than not sell them them pre-sliced in packets. This is my Oriental Mango Dressing recipe.

British Turkey has teamed up with Red Tractor to find the UK’s best recipe using great British fresh seasonal produce in the #TurkeyTractorChallenge competition.
The lucky blogger winner will receive a voucher worth £200 to the supermarket of their choice and be invited to receive their award at the prestigious British Turkey Awards at The Savoy, London on September 25th 2014. The two lucky runner’s up will receive £50 worth of supermarket vouchers. The closing date is 22 August 2014.
The theme for the competition is ‘Arabian Nights’. So I have asked a couple of friends for advice as I have not tried cooking Arabian food before. They suggested to cook turkey tagine using a Pyrex slow cooker.

My husband’s friend had given him a bunch of home-grown rhubarb and I decided to bake him rhubarb crumble using this recipe. But I had made too much of the crumble part and decided to make ice cream crumble for myself. So I mixed in almond flakes, sunflower seeds and chocolate chips into the crumble. I then laid it flat on to the Pyrex cooking sheet and baked for 10 minutes.

Last month, I was picked by Come Round to host a Birds Eye party #FishFingerSandwich. It just happened to be on Father’s Day. So I invited a few relatives and friends over. I am no stranger to Birds Eye as we use plenty of their frozen products like fish fingers and grilled chicken.

Recently, I saw an opportunity to enter a food challenge and I am so glad to be part of it. In celebration of Villa Plus’ new “Local Food” guides that have been rolled out for each destination, they are asking bloggers to recreate a dish from one of the regions. There are 5 regions (Menorca, Kefalonia, Costa Blanca, Fuertaventura, Costa Del Sol) and with 2 bloggers to each region. I was chosen to cook a Costa Del Sol dish.
To be honest, I have never been to Costa Del Sol nor tried their local cuisine. So I did some quick research and did a very quick dish which is the soups perote. I chose this dish as this is my first time cooking such a dish and therefore I liked the fact that it uses minimal ingredients which are easy to get hold of. I was also intrigued that it uses old bread. So if you happen to have any old bread, you might want to try this out instead of baking bread pudding.

Today is the first day of the summer holidays. My children and I have been getting busy to start our summer activities together. The day before, I asked them what they want to do for letter A. These is what we did today!
If you like to join in, please do so and comment with your link. I will pop by and have a look. It can be anything from crafts to food for the letter!

I come from Singapore where there are so many tropical fruits like pineapple, melon, papaya, banana etc available all year around. These are generally easy to get hold of from Waitrose too, both in store and online.

Whenever Wimbledon is on, you always know that berry season is here! I love how shops lay out all the berries and cream next to each another. I always get at least two packets of various berries at a time. We love eating it with honey or use it as ice cream topping.

A huge welcome to Week 22 of the Tuesday Tutorials Pintorials Pin Party! It is sad that England is out of the World Cup but don’t despair! Let us channel our energies on cheering on the remaining British tennis players! If you make any Wimbledon tennis crafts or even strawberry recipes, don’t forget to link it with us!

Sadly, England are out of the World Cup. So now we can turn our attention to Wimbledon! Can Andy Murray do it again? Let’s tune in to find out.
We used to live in Southfields which was only a stones throw away from Wimbledon. There was always such a great atmosphere for the two weeks during Wimbledon. The massive queues even during the rain didn’t turn the fans away. We have been lucky with the British weather this week, with lots of glorious sunshine!
To celebrate this year’s Wimbledon, Moonpig have partnered with Official Champagne Supplier to The Championships, Lanson a small but scrummy and boozy range of Wimbledon themed gifts.
There are three gift sets to choose from:

Wimbledon Champagne with Strawberries & Cream – £16
To celebrate the World Cup, OXO asked if I would like to create a different cuisine of one of the 32 participating countries mouth-watering recipes for the World Cup Blogger Challenge. Without hesitation, I backed Germany to win and picked two utensils to cook two German dishes: 2.8L Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl and Potato Ricer. This recipe is inspired by a proper Kartoffelpuffer recipe (please see below) with a few additional ingredients.

Sweetheart sugar shortbread is a recipe I used from Cathryn Dresser’s book called Let’s Bake. I didn’t use a heart cookie cutter nor put sugar on the shortbread, hence it is named plain and simply Shortbread Biscuits.
