Goodfella’s The Smiler Pizza at Alton Towers

Last week, we were invited to Alton Towers to try out Goodfella’s selfie-powered vending machine at Alton Towers. It was to celebrate the launch of the new Goodfella’s The Smiler Pizza named after Alton Towers’ hypnotic 14 loop rollercoaster.

Chinese Confinement 坐月

What Is Confinement?

Chinese confinement, or zuò yuè (坐月), is a traditional postnatal practice designed to help a new mother recover from pregnancy, labour and childbirth. During this period, both mother and baby are mainly confined at home to rest and recuperate.

For Chinese families, the confinement period usually lasts for a full month, which also coincides with the baby’s first month celebration. During this time, new mums are expected to follow many taboos, dietary rules and restrictions.

Quick Sprinkle with OXO Shake & Flavour

Occasionally I have to cook three to four individual meals for my family. I am the only one who eats hot and spicy food while the rest don’t.  Ms C is very picky and fussy!  She only likes plain food with a limited selection of vegetables. Mr C and Mr K loves their meats, particularly a nice roast.

I am lucky to be picked to test out a range of OXO Shake & Flavours.  I see these as being a great time saver in cooking individual meals!

How to make a perfect SMore

How to make a Perfect Smore!  We just had the most perfect weekend! Sunshine and a lot of outdoor activities!  With the promise of nice weather, we quickly hurried down to our local supermarket to stock up on BBQ food, flour to make pitta pockets and the most important thing – buying a BBQ pit!

Typhoon Apple Heart Electronic Scales Review

Baking is one of my favourite pastimes and having a proper set of scales is something I’ve always wanted.  I bought a set of Tesco value scales 8 years ago but the container is quite small and it only measures up to 1kg so many of my measurements require multiple weighings.

When I saw that Red Candy UK had stocked this beautiful Typhoon Apple Heart Electronic Scales, I immediately fell in love with it!  It is very colourful and vibrant with a retro design to a modern instrument for the kitchen.  I love it!

Pitta Pockets

Earlier this week, I made a batch of yummy delicious scones and now I have tried out another recipe from Cathryn Dresser’s Let’s Bake cookbook.  This time I am making pitta pockets.  They are great for stuffing your favourite foods and enjoying for lunch or dinner.  Besides that, you can also cut into strips and use them to dip in to your favourite dips or soup.

Salad with couscous

This salad recipe is for Red Tractor #RTChallenge. This is my fifth recipe using Red Tractor Assured ingredients they provided. Please click here to learn more about Red Tractor and their food assurance scheme. Do look out for the Red Tractor logo on a huge range of products. The logo will appear in a variety of positions. It could be on the front, back or side of the pack.

This time I am using up all the salad and vegetables from the hamper that are left in my fridge!

Scones by Cathryn Dresser

My children are really learning their way around the kitchen having helped me on numerous cooking and baking tasks.  They both love to help out especially with the baking.  Sometimes it is hard to think what to bake with them that needs minimal adult supervision.  So whenever there is a review for a children’s cookbook, I am always keen to try it.

Homemade Pizza

This recipe is for Red Tractor #RTChallenge. This is my fourth recipe for the Red Tractor challenge. This time round I am baking pizza.  I had slightly modified my Chinese steamed bun recipe to make this pizza base.  Using strong white flour makes the base firmer and chewier. If you prefer less chewy, then add more plain flour.  Instead of milk, you could use water instead.  As I mentioned I think milk gives a nicer flavour/fragrance.

Rhubarb Crumble

This recipe is for Red Tractor #RTChallenge. This is my third recipe to cook rhubarb crumble using the hamper full of delicious Red Tractor Assured ingredients they provided.  We used the British grown rhubarb from Waitrose and British butter from Morrisons.  My husband took this recipe from BBC Goodfood but modified it slightly.

Chinese Almond Cookie

This Chinese Almond Cookie recipe is for Red Tractor #RTChallenge. This is my second recipe using the hamper full of delicious Red Tractor Assured ingredients they provided.  This time I am baking Chinese Almond Cookies that do not require butter.  This is commonly consumed during Chinese New Year.  I have not bake this recipe (provided by my sister) for years since I had my son!  That was six years ago.  This time around, I have my little helper Ms C to help me to bake.

Chinese ABC Soup

This recipe is for Red Tractor #RTChallenge. Last month, I took part in Red Tractor’s blogger challenge. The challenge is in two parts, the first is to create three recipes using the hamper full of delicious Red Tractor Assured ingredients they provide. The second is to try and only eat Red Tractor Assured ingredients for a week and blog about my experience.

belVita Breakfast #MorningStories

I have two children who wake up without fail before 7.30 am but I am lucky that they will play with their iPad, play together or with their toys and don’t disturb my husband and I while we sleep on.  Then at 8 am, I will tell them it is tell to go down to have their own breakfast.
