Baking is one of my favourite pastimes and having a proper set of scales is something I’ve always wanted. I bought a set of Tesco value scales 8 years ago but the container is quite small and it only measures up to 1kg so many of my measurements require multiple weighings.
When I saw that Red Candy UK had stocked this beautiful Typhoon Apple Heart Electronic Scales, I immediately fell in love with it! It is very colourful and vibrant with a retro design to a modern instrument for the kitchen. I love it!
It features a retro pattern of red and green apples on the glass surface, with a digital readout as well as a rubber hook ring for hanging it with other utensils when not in use. When I told my husband that this can be hung on the wall and act as a clock, he was very amused. But I think this is a very nice feature! So these scales, not only weighs, it acts as a clock and timer too! If you don’t like this feature, simple turn off the switch at the back.
It is powered by two AAA batteries and has non-slip feet for easy use. To set the clock is very easy and also with the timer. The timer can be set up to 59 minutes and 59 seconds. It beeps softly for up to 2 minutes or until you acknowledge it. The scale weighs up to 5kg / 11lbs in 1g / 1/8oz increments. I placed a bowl before I set it to zero so that I could add my flour into the bowl to weigh it. I would highly recommend it if you have a retro kitchen or red theme – it’s a great kitchen gadget. It is inexpensive and comes with three key features and you can save cupboard space by hanging it on the wall. If you would like to learn how I made these pitta pockets, click here to read more.
