Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toys

18 May 2014 by Eileen

Early this week, we received a range of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products from Flair for review:

  • Turtles Practice Pal – a 16″ Plush Turtle Figure
  • Turtles Soft Foam Weapons – Donatello’s Bo Staff with blade
  • Turtles Shell – Combat Shell

All the toys are suitable from aged 4 and above and available from flair. Mr K and Ms C were so excited and couldn’t wait to play with them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 16 Plush

The Turtles Practice Pal 16″ Plush Donatello figure is a soft, cuddly soft toy which features over 10 phrases and sounds that talks with the Turtles real voices.  I find it strange that you have to hit or punch the figure on his chest to get him to talk.  It does seems a bit violent but both children find it highly amusing to throw him around or hit him.  It is so cuddly that Ms C actually took him to bed for a big cuddle. The figure is very well stitched and it is made from polyester fibres.

Donatello’s Bo Staff with blade is made from a good quality foam which gives me piece of mind that these are safe for children.  The staff with blade measures about 65 cm in length by about 4 cm thick.  It is comfortable to hold and the foam is very well made and seems quite durable.  Check out my video where my son demonstrates how he uses the weapon.

Finally, we have this gorgeous turtles combat shell.  The shell and bo staff with blade are great for dressing up/role play.  It comes with adjustable belts at the arm areas and waist that can be tightened to fit all.  Mr K is 6 years old and has a waistline of 62 cm and has plenty of Velcro left on his belt.  So this should be able to fit most ages.  There are two weapon slots on the shell which fits all ninja combat gear.  Mr K finds it hard to reach the weapons or to put them back into the slot.  Even after a few practises, it is still not very easy for him as the sprung flip is hard to push back.  The shell can also transform into a shield!  At the back of the shell, it comes with a handle to hold on.

Overall, both of my children love these TMNT toys! Now they can role play their favourite characters and have so much of fun pretend fighting the bad guys.  They are all great value for money and provide much fun and creative imagination.

Check out our video review with Mr K showing off his TMNT skills too!

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
