Every time I go back to Singapore, we will always have a durian feast with my family. My sisters would source the best and one of the most expensive ranges of durian for me. Through the years, even though they have tried to buy from many durian sellers, they will always look out for more – in case, their usual sellers run out of the type of durian they want, they have someone else to fall back on.

Birthday Weekend in Paris with Hotter Shoes
You are only 40 once and 40 is the new 30! I have never been fussed about going big to celebrate my birthday nor have I had a birthday bucket list before 40. But when I heard that Hotter shoes was offering a couple of bloggers the opportunity to test out their Chase shoes, I jumped right into it! Kitdget 25L Professional Food Steamer Review
If you are looking quick and healthier ways to cook your food, then steaming food is one of the best cooking methods of all. It helps to retain the nutritional value of food by conserving the fibre, colour, texture and flavour of vegetables. It also helps in preserving the water-soluble B & C vitamins, potassium, phosphorus and zinc.
Do remember that steaming is not just only for vegetables and fish! There are plenty of ways to cook a meal using steam! You can also steam a cake/cupcake, dim sum, chicken and many more! Do check out my recipes: steam rose bun, niao gao, rice cake, seabass, sponge cake.
Kransekake, Traditional Norwegian cake
Kransekake is a very impressive traditional Norwegian cake that is made of rings stacked in a tower. It only requires three types of ingredients: ground almonds, egg whites and icing sugar. It looks easy to make but it requires plenty of time to do it. The dough needs to rest overnight before rolling out hence it took two days to complete. So if you are looking to make it, leave plenty of time including time for decoration for a lovely finish.
Chinese Swiss Roll Recipe
The Swiss Roll is one of my all-time favourite cakes and I usually buy them from the Chinatown supermarket or bakery shop! The recipe that I love is where the sponge is always very light and thick which makes it so tasty. Since earlier this year, I have been trying different recipes, watching YouTube channels for inspiration and after a few attempts, I think I have found a great recipe that bakes a great sponge.

Coffee and Walnut Cake
I asked my friend what to bake next and she gave me a few suggestions. I decided to bake coffee and walnut cake which I had not baked before. After a few searches on Google, I found Nigella’s recipe and I made it last week. It was very successful. It is a typical English style cake with thick icing. So I decided to modify the recipe slightly to make the cake nuttier!
Chocolate and Walnut Brownies
We have never been a big fan of brownies because they tend to be too dense for our taste buds but I decided to experiment with it as I am trying different types of bakes each week. My son and I tried out this recipe together. It is from The Secret of Cookies which I bought it from Singapore. I have changed some of the ingredients for ingredients more widely available in the UK.
Christmas Yule Log
This is my first time making a Christmas Yule Log and I am very pleased with the outcome. The log is basically a chocolate roulade or Swiss roll. In this recipe, I have made it flourless. If you prefer it to be more dense, then add the same amount of flour/caster sugar in it.
