I am so thrilled to introduce you to this Kitdget 25 litre professional food steamer that I was sent for review. Kitdget is relatively new to the market of kitchen appliance brands and they focus on bringing premium quality kitchenware to their clients. This food steamer is one of their best-selling products, which is suitable for either big or small families, thanks to the flexible assembly of their two large capacity tier detachable steam trays.
This food steamer comes with two 12.5 litre steam trays. They are easy to assemble, easy to clean and dishwasher safe. The flexibility of their trays allows you to create a variety of cooking spaces to suit the various shapes and sizes of food and the requirement of each family. You can use a single tray for a small family or two trays for a big family or create a large space for large and tall food items in the steamer.
Another great feature about this steamer is that it is made from BPA Free material and the basket is using the best food grade material – Tritan, which is more durable, stain-resistant, long-lasting and transparent-looking.
The base is very lightweight, which makes it very portable. You can bring it to a friend’s house or out & about. The steamer does take up a lot of kitchen worktop space (45 cm x 29 cm). If you have a small kitchen, you might need to think where the best place to position this, especially if you will be using it daily.
It comes with a 60 minutes timer with bell. It works like any timer you might have at home and you only need to twist in one direction. You do have to be precise while tuning the timer. Sometimes you might over turn it and to correct it, you have to use a bit of force to push it to the exact spot.
It only takes 15 to 30 seconds (for the entire 25L) to heat up! I am very impressed with the speedy heat steam. My old traditional steamer would have taken me at least a good five minutes before anything happened!
This steamer comes with a rice bowl for steaming rice and instructions. The water refill is nicely designed in that it allows you to refill the water via the side handle funnels without the need to remove the tray. Setting it up is very straightforward. You can either place your food straight on the tray or use a flat dish so the food is easier to remove (e.g. fish) or to prevent discolouration on the trays, especially if using carrots and beetroot.
There is a guideline for your water tank. You should never let it run dry as it will damage the appliance. To look after your appliance, it is best to descale it whenever you can.
This steamer might not be the best looking gadget but I do love using it as it is very quick to heat up and it can accommodate the different needs for my family. The large tray allows food to be well scattered and not stacked on top of one another. It also allows me to steam a lot of cake in one go!
