If you had followed my post about my daughter who was diagnosed with lymphadenopathy, I am so glad to tell you that we had a ‘fantastic’ result. She is having glandular fever and not cancer. So what is glandular fever? They are a type of viral infection that mostly affects young adults. Common symptoms include fever, a sore throat and extreme tiredness (fatigue).
A month ago, Ms C had a week of fever and sore throat. It never occurred to us that it could have been glandular fever. Apparently there are no specific treatments for glandular fever, you can only relieve the symptoms. Read more here. Now we have to monitor her lumps and hope they resolve. It could take weeks or even up to 18 months. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments!
I’m glad it’s not something worse. I had glandular fever really badly when I was young so I know how rotten it can be
I want to know who she’s been kissing to catch it! :p
Seriously though, it must have been a hellish week while you waited for the results and Glandular Fever is a great outcome – although you will have to help her get over that now! xx
So glad its not as serious as initially thought…wishing your little one all the best xx
I was hospitalised about 3 years ago as I has glandular fever and a kidney infection at the same time 🙁 I was in for over a week, and off work for about 2 months recovering. Having the 2 combined was the worst pain I’ve experienced (and I have 2 children!!!). Hope she is feeling better soon… I know with me it was my legs that took the longest to come round – they ached for ages!!!
I’m so glad it wasn’t anything more serious, you’ll just have to make sure she doesn’t get overtired as it can be very draining I believe. Hope she is fully recovered soon.
So pleased its not something very nasty. I have known a few people who have had it, and yes it takes a long time to completely go. But at least you know now. 🙂
