#MAD Day Out with Legoland Windsor and Tots100
We were so lucky to win tickets to join all the MAD finalists at Legoland on June 16. We went there last year and we were all really excited as to go again. This time it was even more special as not only did we have VIP tickets, we were invited to watch the preview showing of the Legends of Chima 4D movie. This is a short family movie that incorporates 4D effects, such as water, wind, snow and fire. Yes, fire! We were shocked by the heat of fire but it made the experience all the more interesting.
Kids Grow Wild Challenge
Both of my children love gardening. They always want to help me water the plants and pull up weeds. Now the weather is getting warmer, it is the perfect time to get out into the garden to give it some TLC. Last year, we planted broad beans directly in the soil but it was eaten by slugs as they began to grow. This year, I bought a seed tray to help our flowers grow first before we re-plant them.
Low Noise Firework Display By Saxon Hill School
This is our 4th year attending Low Noise Fireworks organised by Saxon Hill School, the emphasis being completely visual with the noise reduced to a minimum.
Each year that we have attended, the weather has always rained and this year unfortunately was no different. When we reached the school, we were greeted by the ushers who directed us to the car park. The entrance fee has always been very affordable. Usually, the ticket price includes a glow stick but this year we had to pay 50p for each.
Halloween Costume Making at Lichfield Library
Yet again another fantastic half term event Halloween Costume Making organised by the Lichfield District libraries. Today, we made a bat mask, treat box and a cape for Halloween with Sarah Fry from Sew Cool Creations.
Fruit Bobbing
After the children return from school, they want to play and watch TV. I decided to play fruit bobbing instead to get them to eat their 5 a day as they didn’t have any fruit in school today. I think this is a fun way to get them to eat it.
Firstly, I filled up a small basin of water and places two apples in it. Apples are less dense than water so they will float at the surface.
Lichfield Library Turn Medieval
Lichfield library had a range of re-enactments and events on a medieval theme for all the family and meet a knight. Mr K had made himself a Medieval headwear provided free with art and craft materials from the library.
A trip to Cadbury World!
I love to shop at Tesco because of their Tesco clubcard rewards. They help me to save a lot of money for activities. A few weeks ago, I exchanged £7.50 of vouchers for £30 Days Out Token. I received the voucher within a week and it gave me 6 months to use before it expired. There is free admission for under 4’s at Cadbury World.
One important pre-trip thing I almost forgot to do is phone ahead to book a time slot to ensure that they have tickets available. Luckily, my friend reminded me and I managed to book a 9.50 am slot.
According to my sat nav, it should take only 40 minutes to arrive. What the sat nav didn’t take into account is rush hour traffic! In the end it took us over an hour to get there and I was like an ant in a hot pot! The main car park was full when we got there and we had to park in the overflow car park. We had not paid for our tickets yet and with the huge queue, to get in, I was already so stressed!
A Birthday Party at Ash End Farm
August is not just school holidays for us, it is also the busiest time for birthday parties. I have over 20 friends with birthdays in August! Luckily, we only had two parties to attend.
Today, we went to Ash End House Childrens Farm for I’s 2nd Nursery Rhyme birthday party. We all gathered at the outdoor play area for the meeting point. The weather was gorgeous and the children played happily. Once everyone turned up, the birthday guide who was a lovely young lady, led us to the goat building. She had a quick chat with the children about what to do and what not to do before they got to feed the hungry goats! The children were so excited as they not only feed the animals, they also get to stroke them.
Mini Tubing at SnowDome Tamworth
To be honest, I think it was crazy to go to such a cold place when the weather outside was so lovely and warm. We had booked a mini tubing at SnowDome Tamworth for both of my children and friends. It was a bargain as we only paid half price for both children. Under a tenner!
Active Gym Summer Club – Lichfield Scouts Hall
Active Gym used to be called Step Gym and had been around Lichfield for a very long time. I remember when I first took Mr K to his first session in 2008 and he absolutely loved it. Today, both of them ended up in tears as they refused to go home after the Summer Holiday Club session held at Lichfield Scouts Hall.
Firstly, they do warm up exercise to prevent injuries by loosening up joints and muscles. Then they follow the sequence of different exercise station like mini trampoline, walking across a beam, climbing the ladder and jumping from a height.
Teddy Bear Picnic at Beacon Park
It had been a long time since we last visited Beacon Park and I was amazed that there were so much of changes. There were more benches, a pirate ship and workable swing which was broken before. One negative note though, I felt that they could at least put a barrier around the pond. I was worried that babies/children might fall in there.
Mini Mambos By Mobile Leisure
We are into the 3rd week of school holidays and I almost ran out of ideas for things to do with the kids. Luckily, the Mobile Leisure Lichfield District organised a couple of activities for younger children like Mini Mambos, Cooking Session, Art & Craft and Fun sessions. We could have just arrived and paid but we decided to book in advance to avoid disappointment. It was £2.60 per child.
Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park
Both of my children are massive Peppa Pig fans and so we decided to book a weekend away to Peppa Pig World with four close friends and their kids. After a 3 hour drive to Paultons Park, both children were so tired that they fell asleep. We were there around 9.30 am and half of the main car park was full! Packed with lots of eager children wearing Peppa Pig clothing and holding their favourite Peppa Pig toys waiting in the queue. The gate opened around 9.50 am and once we are in the park, we had to wait for another 10 minutes to get into the Peppa World.
Animated Cake Pops Workshops at Lichfield Library
Another school holiday activity hosted by Staffordshire Library – Animated Cake Pops Workshop. It was a 2 hour class and cost £2 per child. We made 1 teddy bear topper, 1 teddy bear face and 1 tiger cake pop. Both of the kids had a lot of fun and they wanted to eat the melted chocolate before they even started decorating.
Firstly, we made a teddy bear using marzipan icing. It was quite difficult for Ms C to do and I had to do most of it. Mr K was able to make it with a bit of my help.
