Tips for your Baking Skills

Since moving to Britain 20 years, I have visited many counties eating delicious British food from pubs to ice cream parlours, and of course, foods from all over the world. As the Prime Minister announced and imposed new coronavirus restrictions, it makes it harder for us to travel at the moment.

Tuesday Tutorials Week 32 Fruits

A huge welcome to Week 32 of the Tuesday Tutorials Pintorials Pin Party!

This week I am featuring fruit recipes! My fellow blogger has shared her recipe on how she made this yummy looking peach and apricot jam! Next is Handpicked Life who made amaretto strawberry. I had not tried it before but I will definitely give it a try! It looks delicious! Last but not least, Christianity Cove made a beautiful looking fruit octopus!

Kikkoman Recipe

Last week, on the eve of Chinese New Year for our reunion dinner, I had cooked a steamed fish. I mentioned in the post why a fish dish is a must on the table, so today, I am writing my recipe for you if you wish to follow.

Pop the fish in the steamer for 6-8 minutes or until it is cooked. Mix 4 tablespoons of Kikkoman soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 1 teaspoon Shaoxin Chinese wine and pepper. Pour in the mixture once the fish is cooked. Serve while hot. It is that simple! They are fantastic!

Olive Fried Rice with Tenderstem

Last weekend was our bloggers night in and we had received some food samples for us to try out during and after the party.

Chobani Strained Yoghurt Cooking Recipes

Last month, I received an email to invite me for a dinner with Chobani. I was wondering who or what is Chobani as I had not heard or seen them before. So I went to Google them and found out that they make strained yoghurt.
The company was founded in 2005 by Hamdi Ulukaya, a Turkish immigrant to the USA who couldn’t find any decent strained yoghurt in America. So he bought a yoghurt plant recently closed down by Kraft. The first cup of Chobani finally hit shelves 18 months later and has since grown to become America’s #1 yoghurt. They launched in the UK market in September last year and are stocked in over 450 Tesco stores. I must admit that I had not looked at this brand before as I always just picked up our usual brands.
So a group of West Midland food bloggers were invited to Edmund’s restaurant in Birmingham to try out their Chobani recipes. The chef had made a list of scrumptious delicious top class foods with Chobani yoghurt. It was a three course meal with two or three options for each.
We had this potato soup served in a mini cup as an appetizer!

Princes Bonfire Night Party

Some of you might know that I was not brought up in this country. When I first heard about Bonfire Night, I wondered if it is like how Little Britain did it in the show where people just burnt their old furniture. Of course, Bonfire is not about burning furniture but it is a celebration.

How to make a Witch Hat

Halloween is approaching and I have been thinking up things to do with my children. Ms C’s teacher has given her a workbook to share what she did over the weekend or things she could do. So I remembered a very simple recipe to make a witch’s hat using an ice cream cone.
Ice cream cones are one of Ms C’s favourite snacks. She only likes to eat the cone and not the ice cream. Having said that, last week, she finally tried ice cream and managed to finish one whole ice cream.
To make a witchs hat, you need:
– Ice cream cone
– Baking/Cooking Chocolate
– Sprinkles
Firstly, you can melt the chocolate in a bowl which you put over a saucepan or in the microwave. Once the chocolate has melted, use it to coat the ice cream cone. Quickly place it on a tray laid with foil. Ask your little helper to decorate it with sprinkles.

Kitchen Lab with Pyrex

As many will know, Pyrex is a good and reliable brand for their kitchenware. Now they have improved a lot on their design and to complement the modern home. Recently, they came out with the Kitchen Lab sets. It was our second Twitter party giveaway. I found out recently that they are stocked in The Range and Dunelm Mill. They come with a shaker and measuring jug.
Last Saturday, my children wanted to eat tangyuan. Since I have leftover blue food colouring, I decided to use it with my tangyuan. This Pyrex kitchen lab shaker can be used for storing oil or act as a measuring cup. So I added a bit of blue colouring into the shaker and used the measuring jug to pour in the water. This is my showcase of the Pyrex kitchen sets and our tangyuen. If you would like to cook this Chinese dessert, please read here. It is a very simple recipe.

Easy Meal with ilumi

ilumi is a County Durham food company who has been cooking up nut-, gluten- and milk-free foods for nearly a decade. Their team of chefs and nutritionists combine the allergy-friendly ingredients to create delicious meals. A fellow blogger, +Laura CYMFT, kindly offered me a chance to test these beautiful microwave food pouches.

Arthur Price Kitchen Pinch

Arthur Price Kitchen was first introduced 3 years ago and now they have a wide range of kitchenware. They all are beautifully understated, their minimal design and neutral colouring will suit any contemporary table setting.

McCain Home Chips Challenge

As a family meal, we aim to eat a healthy meal with at least two portions of fish a week. To accompany the fish, I always use oven chips at the same time. We only stock McCain’s chips as they have always been our favourite chips. I love McCain’s French Fries as it is very crispy and crunchy. While Mr C prefers the texture of McCain’s Crinkle Cut chips.

Mini Meatballs Vegetable Noodle

After having such a gorgeous sunny day, we were all out the house washing the car, tidying the garden and we went for a bike ride. To prepare a quick and easy meal, I cooked my children’s favourite meal – noodle soup. It only takes me 5 minutes to prepare and 5 minutes to cook.

Baking Chocolate Pudding with Pyrex’s Essentials

Baking with children is one of our activities we do at home when it is a rainy day or simply because we fancy it. It is a great way to teach them and enjoy family time together. I can not say I enjoy it 100% because inevitably you spend double the time cleaning up the mess they make. But it is a great way to prevent them from watching too much TV.

Spicy Prawns with Pyrex’s Classic

As a busy mother of two, I always try to find quick and easy ways to cook a healthy meal and food that my family would enjoy. So when I came across Pyrex’s website for recipes, I found this 10 minutes quick and easy meal – Spicy prawns. Prawns is my son and my favourite seafood.

To cook this dish, I decided to use Pyrex’s Classic cake dish with handle. It is shallow and round which is ideal for cakes/puddings but I believe that this glassware is suitable for all purpose use as it is safe for oven and microwave. Since we have a small family, I think this is the perfect dish for cooking a small portion of spicy prawns.
