BullGuard Identity Protection

27 November 2013 by Eileen

Do you ever worry about the risk of identity theft and financial fraud?  Fortunately I have not been affected yet but you hear of stories all the time. It can take weeks before the bank refunds your money back and credit ratings can be negatively impacted too.

BullGuard Identity Protection

So why do I need BullGuard Identity Protection? And how does it work?

BullGuard Identity Protection software comes with Identity and Social Media Protection.  Whatever devices you use (e.g. PCs, Macs, iPads, tablets and smartphones) it safeguards your personal and financial details including credit cards, debit cards and bank accounts, phone numbers, email addresses etc. It monitors them constantly – the minute they detect your details may have been stolen or compromised, they notify you with an email or SMS. The Social Media Protection helps parents keep an eye on a child’s Facebook profile without it being intrusive and supports up to three monitored profiles.

Setting it up is straightforward. You do require an internet connection at home/work as you need to sign on online and open an account. Once completed with the Licence key, you can start configuring the services. I have signed up by using it on my iPad. Once I logged in, I went to set up the Identify Protection, where I needed to set up a new password for it before I can key in my details. Inside the Identify Protection section, there are 3 tabs to complete: Protect Personal Details, Protect Financial Details and Protect Contact Details. When doing this step, it is best to have your information ready to hand or you can save it and come back again. The software will detect your details if it stolen or compromised by email and SMS.

As for the Social Media Protection, I was unable to try this out as neither of my children have a Facebook account. There is a parents’ dashboard which flags items from each child’s activity on Facebook including links that pose a security threat to the child, posts and private messages with possible inappropriate content, a friend’s advisor that monitors friends interaction with the child and photos containing inappropriate descriptions. On the child’s dashboard within Facebook, it alerts them to threats including malicious links, posts and messages with the associated flags and photo uploaded.

I think this software is suitable for parents who have children over 10 years old who are Facebook users. It gives you piece of mind with 24/7 support. It is easy to get started with no software installation required. BullGuard Identity Protection costs just £3.95 per month, or £34.95 per year, representing a saving of £12.45.  It is a reasonable price for up to 3 users.

I think it is easy to forget things like this when you use the internet regularly. This sounds great and easy to use
