My 5 Christmas Festive Playlist

BritMums challenged bloggers to come up with a festive playlist that will keep them or their Designated Driver smiling this season while they taxi friends and family around.

The #FestivePlaylist Linky is sponsored by Coca-Cola and its special Designated Driver programme which helps promote the positive role that soft drinks can play as credible alternatives to alcohol. You can use their interactive Pub Finder to find places where Designated Drivers can enjoy 2-for-1 Coke and Diet Coke when out with friends – find out more here!

Santa going to Singapore for Holiday!

“This blog post is my entry for the Travelsupermarket Postcards from Santa Competition.”

This was drawn by Mr K, 5. Santa is going to Singapore for holiday to escape the cold and he has just arrived at Singapore Changi Airport!

Magic of Christmas

“This is my entry for the #O2GuruMagicofXmas Linky, sponsored by O2 GuruTV – the home of tech help and inspiration”

We are not Christian but living in the UK, our children more or less influenced to celebrate Christmas. Naturally, they pick this up from school and friends. We don’t want them to miss out and so we try to get into the spirit and let them enjoy the magic of Christmas.

In 2009, my immediate family and relatives flew over from Singapore to celebrate Christmas with us. That was the best time of the year to have them over with us. We had the best Christmas party ever.

In 2010, we went for a Santa Claus Fun Run. Look at the snow behind us! All of us got to dress up as Santa to help raise money for charity.

My favourite Disney Film

On 30th October 2012, it was announced that the The Walt Disney Company would acquire Lucasfilm. We were over the moon. We love to watch all Disney films and we are also a fan of Star Wars.  With these two combined, I have high expectations they will produce the greatest Disney film ever!

Should I let my 5 years old stay at his friend’s birthday by himself?

Yesterday, as we are getting ready to go to Mr K’s classmate’s party, he told us that he did not want us at the party as he is a big boy now.  We know that some parents leave their child as young as 3 years old at a birthday party but we were still shocked to hear that.

A mini birthday party for Mr K

This morning, K got so excited when he saw his birthday present lying next to him!  It is a playmobil pirate ship that he always wanted.

Today, it was a non-uniform day at his school to celebrate Children In Need.  Everyone dressed up with mad hair and a moustache. Mr K didn’t feel inclined to dress up though. His classmate F also shares the same birthday as Mr K. What a surprise! Two best mates sharing the same birthday. All his classmates were each given a bag of sweeties from Mr K after school.

Happy 5th Birthday to Mr K

Today is my son Mr K’s 5th birthday. Five years ago, I had a show on the afternoon of Wednesday 14th Nov, followed by a strong contraction just after midnight (into Thursday 15th Nov now). Being 40+ weeks pregnant, I was so ready to go into a labour. I had to get to the hospital to have antibiotics as I carried group B streptococcus. I still remember calling the hospital begging them to admit me. They refused and said come back when I had 10 minute contractions. It was another 18 hours before I had 10 minute contractions. We went into the hospital and had two course of antibiotic before I requested my midwife to have my water bag broken. The next 10 minutes was a blur. Suddenly, Mr K’s blood pressure and heart rate dropped. Emergency bells rang and suddenly approximately 10 medical professionals ran in.  Within seconds, Mr K was born. There was a moment of silence followed by the most beautiful sound came. He cried! (Now, this is the most annoying sound from him!)

No more night time nappy!

Ms C was potty trained when she was about 2 years and 9 months old.  We hate the mess and had bought her a waterproof bed sheet in additional to her wearing her night time nappy.  She has been dry at night since she was potty trained but my husband and I chose to keep her wearing the night time nappy until now.  Out of the blue, she told me that she is a big girl and she doesn’t want to wear a nappy.  I was really proud of her. Today is her 3rd day wearing “big girl pants” at night – so far so good!

12 days of Christmas – Toyota

What’s your dream Christmas gift or moment? Create your own version of “12 days of Christmas” and you could end up a star of Toyota’s very first Christmas musical!

It’s easy and fun: Just film yourself, your children, family and/or friends singing a spoof version of the traditional carol “12 days of Christmas”.It’s a chance to show off your singing skills, and tell thousands of people exactly what you want to find under the tree on December 25th.

Alternative way to lose weight

I’m Singaporean and was brought up in Singapore. I was always a big girl throughout my whole childhood. My mum tried lots of ways to help me to lose weight. I can still remember as a young child, I had to wake up at 5 am and jogged with my father around the car park as we didn’t have a park near our place. I hated every single minute of it! In Singapore, schools differ to the UK, in that they they have a morning session (7.30am to 1pm) and an afternoon session (1pm to 6.30pm) and my parents even went to the trouble of swapping my afternoon session to the morning session. As a result of this, I had different classmates throughout my primary school years.

Low Noise Firework Display By Saxon Hill School

This is our 4th year attending Low Noise Fireworks organised by Saxon Hill School, the emphasis being completely visual with the noise reduced to a minimum.

Each year that we have attended, the weather has always rained and this year unfortunately was no different. When we reached the school, we were greeted by the ushers who directed us to the car park.  The entrance fee has always been very affordable. Usually, the ticket price includes a glow stick but this year we had to pay 50p for each.

Was she too young to have an admirer?

Last month, I was pushing Ms C in her pram walking towards the car park after picking her and Mr K up from school. A young handsome looking boy (roughly aged 8, from the same school as my son) approached me with his sweetest smile. He came to tell me that Ms C is very pretty. I was pleasantly surprised by the boy’s confidence and chatted to him for a few minutes. Ms C couldn’t be bothered by him though. She is a very proud little girl who has mastered the art of being a little madam.

Time to ditch the pram? May be not?

It has been three weeks since both children started reception and pre-school. We have been trialling walking plus using our pram from a pub’s car park and from nearby shops.

When Ms C saw other children either riding a scooter, bicycle or pushing a doll’s pram to school, she decided it was time to ditch her pram. She now wants to use her Igglepiggle scooter and act like a big girl! At first, I was more than happy for her to get active and do some exercise which is obviously good for her. After using her scooter for just one day, she had a massive meltdown this morning. Is she ready to ditch her pram? Well, the answer is no!

Her journey to an Eye Test

Ms C has had her glasses since early April this year.  It was not a very easy journey to this point especially when no one listened to you.  It was around October last year that we noticed that she always squinting while watching TV or when we call her from afar.  Most of our close family members are short sighted so it was one of the signs that she might have inherited this from us.
