I have to admit that I am not a brilliant pancake maker but using the right kitchen tools does help to cut down waste, time and make a perfect pancake. Not long ago, I received the Pyrex granate pancake pan, an OXO Good Grips turner, OXO Good Grips batter dispenser and a bottle of Clarks Maple syrup. You can read from my past blog post on how I did the pancake challenge with those items and how I used Clarks maple syrup in smoothies.
These are the ingredients you need:
- 100g sifted plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 300ml milk
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
- Butter for frying
In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I used 100ml of milk instead of 300ml. Adding extra milk is to make thin pancakes. If you like thicker pancakes, you might like to try this recipe from Clarks maple syrup instead:
- 170g self-raising flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 100g Castor sugar
- 2 eggs
- 275ml milk
- 25g butter
Today, we used PLj’s recipe with the Pyrex pancake pan. I love that the pan heated up quickly and evenly. The handle has a soft-touch finish. The pan is quite large but not too heavy. Once the pan heated up, my husband spread the melted butter and dispensed the pancake mixture evenly. His tip to get a golden brown colour on the pancake is to have melted butter in a hot pan. After 1 minute, he used the OXO turner to turn the pancake! It is a perfect pancake each time! You can get the pan from Ocado!
Afterwards we let both kids add their own pancake topping like strawberry, banana, Clarks Maple syrup, cinnamon, Nutella and many more.
I personally prefer Nutella with fresh strawberries, with a sprinkling of chocolate chip and a drizzle of Clarks maple syrup! They do come in four different flavours: Original, Vanilla, No 1 Medium and No2 Amber. Each flavour has its own unique taste and they are easy to squirt from the bottle as they quite runny.
Mr C likes to garnish his pancake with banana, spread with Nutella, sprinkle with crushed Pistachios and finish with a drizzle of Clarks maple syrup.
