Cat’s Tongue Cookies is another recipe from The Secret of Cookies by Gu Huixue. I totally love this book my friend bought for me in Singapore! One of the ingredients is cake flour which I replaced with plain flour.
This post is part of a BritMums project with OXO Shake & Flavour. Shake & Flavour seasoning granules can be sprinkled into food during cooking or before serving. Find out more about the Shake & Flavour varieties.
Last week, we were fortunate to be invited to attend Sarson’s Cookery School Event with Nick Coffer, author of My Daddy Cooks. Ms C and I took the earliest train to get to London to make sure we arrived with plenty of time. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Nick, Ruth and a lovely lady which I have forgotten her name.
Morrisons invited several BritMums bloggers to become a #MorrisonsMum (or #MorrisonsDad!) and to go into their local store and spend £80 worth of vouchers on their bank holiday shop. We were really fortunate to get picked!
We are no strangers to Morrisons as they are my fortnightly shop especially for Fuji apples and poultry. I like their fresh meat counter as they are British meat and of course their meat is endorsed by Red Tractor. Red Tractor is a food assurance scheme which covers production standards developed by experts on safety, hygiene, animal welfare and the environment amongst other things. The Red Tractor logo on pack means your food or drink has met these responsible production standards and is fully traceable back to independently inspected farms in the UK.
So on Friday, I went to Morrisons and saw the instant changes they had made. They had big posters and label to highlight that this item is cheaper than anywhere else. It is very clear and bright. I totally love how they had revamp the whole shop to make it clearer for their customers.
Recently, I came across ProCook on Twitter and had a look at their website. The ProCook brand was founded in 1996 and has grown to become the UK’s leading specialist cookware multi-channel retailer. They are currently trading via 21 stores across the UK, regular mail order catalogues and a fully transactional and secure website. They offer fantastic value for money with 30 – 50 % off high street prices.
I love to cook and have recently tried to cook some authentic Chinese foods. They must have known that I love to cook as they sent me this ProCook Cast Iron Griddle for review. The delivery service was most impressive, arriving the next day!
I have always known that cast iron is heavy but this is so much heavier than I expected. With its width of 29.5cm at its max and 50cm length including handle, it is understandable that it is very heavy. It comes with enamelled handles and we have the cream coloured one. Besides cream colour, it is also available in glossy black, aubergine or graduated red with an amazing price tag of £24! What great value!
I have to admit that I am not a brilliant pancake maker but using the right kitchen tools does help to cut down waste, time and make a perfect pancake. Not long ago, I received the Pyrex granate pancake pan, an OXO turner, OXO batter dispenser and a bottle of Clarks Maple syrup. You can read from my past blog post on how I did the pancake challenge with those items and how I used Clarks maple syrup in smoothies.
