Rollplay Nighthawk Ride On Review

23 October 2018 by Eileen

Children can now master the thrill of the ride with this brand new 12 Volt Nighthawk by Rollplay with its leading-edge design. This low-riding, high-powered ride-on goes up to a max speed of 6 miles per hour (11 km/h) and is great fun! It is suitable for aged six and above and for a maximum weight of 50 kg.

This ride-on is shaped like the body of a stingray with beautiful curves all around. It is very well built and there are chunky handlebars on the side to enable the child to remain secure. I love that the ride-on comes as a whole unit and there is nothing to assemble apart from inserting the rear safety flag into the flagpole hole at the back of the ride-on. The flag allows you to keep an eye on riders if they go behind obstacles. Mr K is a slightly bigger frame and prefers not to put the flag in. As for Ms C, it is perfectly fine for her!

For the first time, you have to charge the ride-on for 12 hours before using it. It might be a good idea to charge it first before you give it to the child as a gift. The charging port is hidden inside the seat which you can access by using a flat screwdriver or coin to remove the screw to detach the seat cover. Each charge of the battery gives a running time of approximately 60 minutes and it takes 8 to 12 hours to fully charge.

This ride-on does have some speed and is easy to control. Press the right pedal to accelerate and the left pedal to brake and the pedals are pressure-sensitive allowing giving the riders full control.

The base of the ride-on features five wheels: one at the back, two up front and one on each side. The key to control is to balance yourself to manoeuvrer by leaning left or right as there is no steering wheel. After a few rides, both of them were able to master the balancing pretty easily and glide along.

We are so lucky to live nearby a park with tarmacked paths around the football pitch and both children had a great time riding. This ride-on is best used on flat surfaces but not in wet conditions including rain. It is best to check the weather and surface conditions before using it. Also, do remember to ensure your child has the right safety gear (helmet and pads) before they ride on it!

Both my children think the speed is quite gentle and easy to control. They both enjoy it! It is available to buy in good toy retailers like Smyths, Hamleys, online and Amazon. For more information, please visit: http://rollplay.net/
