4 Decorative Mirror Ideas

4 Decorative Mirror Ideas that Will Help You Modernize Your Bathroom

A bathroom that has a single basic mirror looks old fashioned. Modern bathrooms feature multiple mirrors to elaborate on their design. Mirrors can be used to give your bathroom a facelift. The good thing is that such a renovation is much affordable than you might expect because you don’t have to reconstruct anything.

You can choose between changing how the mirrors are arranged or changing the fixtures and shape altogether. The other advantage is that you can easily remove them when you want to update the interior design of your bathroom to feature new trends. Below are some ideas that can be useful in modernizing your old bathroom.

4 Decorative Mirror Ideas that Will Help You Modernize Your Bathroom

  1.  Twin Mirrors

Instead of having one mirror, you can opt to have two mirrors that are of the same height and width, placed close to each other. In fact, the design would look great in a bathroom that has more than one sink. In such a case, you can fix a mirror above each individual sink.  The mirror can be framed or frameless depending on the texture of the wall.

If the wall is textured, the mirror should be frameless to avoid losing the emphasis of the wall. On the other hand, if the wall has no texture, you should consider installing mirrors that are framed. This idea helps in putting emphasis on an idle wall. But you can only do this if your bathroom is spacious. If you put twin mirrors in a small bathroom, it will look congested.

  1. Add Unconventional Shapes

You can make your bathroom to stand out by adding mirrors that feature unconventional shapes such as oval and rectangle. You can also customize the mirrors to be in unique shapes such as the heart and a map. You can actually pick one shape and use it all over. The easiest way of utilizing one shape is to have multiple mirrors cut into the same shape but of different sizes.

If you opt for several shapes, you will be creating competition for attention among the mirrors. This is because people will spend more time on the shape that appeals to them the most. Such an approach can be used to emphasize on your theme and create continuity in the bathroom. For best results, it’s recommended that you put the mirrors on one wall so that they look like a photo gallery.

  1. One Large Mirror

Large mirrors are good in capturing light. They actually make the bathroom to be lit uniformly which helps in eliminating shadows. However big mirrors are suitable for spacious walls. If your bathroom is small but you still want to have one large mirror, make sure it’s narrow. A narrow mirror helps in tricking the eyes that the walls are not short. You can tone up the mirror by putting it in a frame. If the mirror has no frame, you can make it glow by adding some backlight.

  1. Hanging Mirrors

Everyone will tell you that a mirror should be hung on the wall. You can get more creative by suspending the mirror in the air. That way, people will spot it from any angle. You should suspend it with a rope or a cable. It’s recommended you use a thick rope to give the mirror an artistic look. Besides that, the mirror should be framed so that people can notice the unique pattern of its borders. I have a very small bathroom with a very large mirror hanging on the wall to give the illusion of space.
