Googly Eyes Review from University Games

14 September 2016 by Eileen

Googly Eyes is a hilarious and fun family game that will keep the whole family entertained.  It is suitable for ages 7 and above for four to 16 players in teams.  It is a drawing and guessing game using a pair of fun googly glasses.

In the box, it comes with a set of tinted, interchangeable easy, medium & hard lens with glasses, game board, 4 plastic playing pieces, die with sticker sheet, timer, drawing pad, pencil, 54 challenge cards and instructions. Setting up the game requires a big table to place all the items.  The glasses’ lenses are easy to swap around and comfortable to wear while playing.

On the challenge cards, it shows the topic for the theme (object, places or entertainment) and on the back of the cards, there are three challenges.

To play this game, the playing team determines which player will draw first, rolls the die and moves their playing piece the number of spaces shown. The colour of the space you land on will determine which challenge to draw and which lenses to use in the glasses. The players take turns drawing challenges for their team to guess wearing the wacky vision-altering glasses. The team have to guess the correct object before the times run out!  We find the timer quite daunting and adds more pressure to get it right. To win this game, you have to be the first team to make it around the game board from start to finish.

This is a simple and delightful game that can be played with family.  It is a lot of fun to wear the wacky glasses and do the challenge. Even my fussy daughter loves playing it! I would recommend this game to families looking for a fun way of playing a drawing game!  This game is available to buy from good toy stores and Amazon.
