Thunderbirds Are Go DVD Review

15 June 2015 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Calling all International Rescue fans. Thunderbirds Are Go DVD (Volume 1) will be soon be released in good retail stores, Amazon and iTunes from 22nd June 2015. In this Thunderbirds DVD, it showcases all 13 episodes from the thrilling first series. Both of my children were excited as they have not had much opportunity to watch it on CITV in the mornings.

If you are old enough to remember the original TV series, Thunderbirds used to be a puppet show. However, this has all changed! It is now an exciting mixture of CGI and live action miniatures.

Thunderbirds Are Go DVD Review

These are the 13 episodes from the first half of the first series. Each episode is about twenty minutes in length.

  • Ring of Fire Part 1
  • Ring of Fire Part 2
  • Space Race
  • Crosscut
  • Fireflash
  • Unplugged
  • Runaway
  • EOS
  • Slingshot
  • Tunnels of Time
  • Skyhook
  • Underpressure
  • Heavy Metal

Whenever disaster strikes, International Rescue answers the call! From their hidden island base in the South Pacific, the five Tracy Brothers (Scott, John, Virgil, Gordon, and Alan) pilot remarkable, cutting-edge Thunderbird vehicles from the depths of the oceans to the highest reaches of space to help others in need.

After watching, these are Mr K’s thoughts:

  • Which is his favourite character and craft?

Mr K is familiar with Thunderbirds and he loves the show. He finds the show very engaging and enjoys the exciting action. He loves every single rescue. His favourite character is Scott and favourite craft, of course is Scott’s First Response craft – Thunderbird 1. Thunderbird 1 is a hypersonic rocket plane that has so many uses and is endowed with VTOL capabilities.

  • Which is his favourite episode and why?

Mr K’s favourite episode is Runaway. It is about a high-speed test train on a Japanese Maglev line which is out of control. In order to prevent an accident from happening, Brains and Scott went to stop it with the help of Thunderbird 1. Then they discovered that it is under the control of an Artificial Intelligence program, which John in Thunderbird 5 determines is playing a game. The whole story is very exciting and also Mr K loves the last bit where Scott said his grandma’s cookies taste like smelly feet!

  • What would he like to see happen next in the series?

Mr K would love to see Scott save people from a potential hot air balloon disaster!

  • Is your mum/dad like any of the Thunderbirds Are Go characters?

Mr K said Mr C is Scott while I am Kayo!

Both of my children love the show and have signed up to be part of the International Rescue Training Programme to become a new recruit via www.thunderbirds.com. Check out for our review here!
