TOMY Popping Penguin Island Review

19 April 2014 by Eileen

Bath time is always fun time for my children. They love having playing with their rubber duckies, plastic cups, Disney princess make up set and mermaid to play with. This Autumn/Winter, TOMY will launch a new range of bath toys for endless fun in the bath for the children. Do look out for them.

Presently, TOMY have just last month launched the Popping Penguin Island which is suitable for 18 months and onwards. It is a colourful and fun floating island featuring four different coloured penguins with matching colour pads.  It required 3 AAA batteries which are not included in the box.  Once the batteries are installed, it is ready to go as there is no on/off button on the island.

I was quite sceptical about it floating but after filling the bathtub, the children placed in on top of the water and it does float very nicely.  They then pressed the fish button to launch the penguins into the water!  They are so excited each time the penguin dives in!  The penguins float too!

This toy definitely adds educational value for younger children to learn their colours and numbers by placing matching colour penguins on their own coloured iceberg.  My children are too old to benefit from the educational value but there was still the obvious fun of anticipating and trying to catch the penguins which I suppose benefits hand-eye coordination too.

The quality of the toy is very good and is very well made.  The music level is acceptable.  It was placed in the water for at least 30 minutes and after rinsing off and drying, it still works perfectly.  I was quite worried that the water would get into the machine and ruin it within minutes but the important parts are water tight.  Overall, this is a fantastic bath toy and inexpensive. Both my children love it!

This looks fun and different, I how long it would stay water tight for though?

We have just received this and I was wondering how it would float too! Great to see how well it floats, look forward to trying it out in the bath later!

I loved buying Tomy toys for my children & now I get them for the Grandchildren. They are durable, colourful, educational & more importantly lots of fun for the children to polay with.
