Provamel is adding a new Orange and Redbush flavour to its ‘botanical’ range of yoghurt alternatives, drawing on the flavours of southern Africa to expand the soya category. The ‘botanical’ range broke new ground when it launched last year with an Apple and Green Tea (500g) and a Lime and Lemon Balm (500g) flavour.
The Orange and Redbush (500g) addition continues to combining natural organic herbal remedies and fruits with dairy-free soya yoghurt alternative – a first for both the dairy and dairy-free categories. Roobois or Redbush, has been a popular product in southern Africa for generations. The Redbush leaves are fermented into a tea, which is how Redbush is most commonly consumed. Unlike other teas, Roobois tea contains almost no caffeine and far less tannin, making it less bitter. Roobois is also known for its high level of antioxidants and is full of vitamins and minerals such as zinc, copper, calcium, manganese, magnesium and potassium.
The tea has traditionally been used to help treat a variety of health conditions, from skin allergies and sleep problems to digestive issues. With a delicious flavour bought to life by zesty oranges and aromatic redbush, the unique combination is hitting shelves just in time to ramp up summer well-being. It is available at an RRP of £1.55 from all major and independent health food stores.
I really enjoyed the Orange and Redbush Soya yoghurt! I like redbush tea and knew what to expect in terms of the flavour but was unsure how it would work in a yoghurt. Any reservations about the product quickly dematerialised as the blend of the orange and redbush makes for a delightfully refreshing flavour.
The consistency of the yoghurt is thick and has orange pieces and was enjoyed by all the family. I would rate the yoghurt 5 out of 5.
