One of the top things to do in Taipei is to visit their night market to try out the unique Taiwanese street foods/snacks. Taipei are not only popular for their foods, it is also great for cheap clothes shopping and playing their street games like catching fish/prawns, shooting balloons etc. The street is always packed with tourists and the local Taipei people too!
Quadropolis is a strategy board game that sees players compete with one another for the shops, parks, public services and other structures to be placed in them. It is made by Days of Wonder. This Meccano 25 Model 4×4 Off-Road Truck set is the Meccano metal construction system that unlocks endless possibilities. In fact, you can build 25 different off-road motorized model configurations (only 1 vehicle can be built at a time). There are only instructions for three of these models included and the other rest of the models can be found on their website. We were thrilled when we saw this set. It looked very challenging and a great set that would appeal to my children. We had previously reviewed their robot MicroNoid Socket which is also a fabulous set.
While I was researching what to do in Taipei, I can across a few bloggers who wrote about Houtong cat village. The reviews were quite mixed. Some people said it is quite boring while others enjoyed visiting the place. So I decided to see it for myself. What I didn’t plan for was the weather! It was raining “cats and dogs” on our visit which was not ideal! As you can imagine, if it rains, all the animals hide away. Anyway, we did get to see a few cutie cats, so read on!
If you go to Taipei, one of the places you have to visit is Taipei 101, which was formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center. This building at the height of 508 metre, was once held as the World’s tallest until the completion of Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2009.
Part of our relaxed “free and easy” trip was to do sightseeing and Taipei 101 is one of my top places to visit. I often see it featured in Taiwanese drama shows so I’ve always wanted to see it for myself and check it out at night time!

Love cheese? Welcome to the club! We love cheese in this household especially Mr C and Mr K. They are huge cheese lovers, from eating cheese sandwiches to a tasty cheesy fish pie! I always try to cook at least one portion of fish each week to make sure my family get their omega 3 and other nutrients. And fish pie is one of our favourite dishes to eat during the week.
