Dobble Review by Asmodee

3 July 2017 by Eileen

Dobble is a 5 in 1 family card game for two to eight players for aged six and above. This is a great game for travel and party as it can be fast and furious! Beware, it can get a little too heated!

dobble review

Did you know that now you can play this Dobble/Spot It! Duel game on iOS and Android for free? Since its debut in 2009, the franchise has sold over 10 million units worldwide, becoming a party game phenomenon among families and fans around the world, and winning numerous prestigious toy awards along the way! This app is co-developed by Asmodee Digital and Virtuos Games, Spot It! Duel is the brand’s first-ever freemium mobile game adaptation! Do check it out!

dobble cards

This compact circular tin consists of 55 cards, with eight symbols per card. The circular cards are thin and easy to hold. Every card is unique and has only one symbol in common with any other card in the deck. The match can be difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the symbols can vary on each card. Once a player finds the match, they shout it out before other players and either takes the card or places it somewhere else, depending on which mini-game they are playing.

There are five different ways to play the game:

  • Fill the Well
  • The Towering Inferno
  • Hot Potato
  • Catch them all
  • The Poisoned Gift

The mini games are incredibly easy to play. Players must have a keen eye and lightning reactions in order to be the first to spot the matching symbols. We have previously reviewed the Finding Dory Dobble before which is for even younger children of aged four onwards and have lesser cards in total.

dobble review playing mini games

As the game is based on reactions and visual perception, rather than knowledge or strategy, it makes a great fun family game. The size of symbols are comfortable for my daughter who has mild blindness to spot but at a slower pace. This game can get really heated and competitive!

The deck of cards comes well protected inside a small circular tin to keep them safe and makes Dobble the perfect travel game you can take anywhere as it fits in your pocket! Even though the mini games are quick to complete, it is fun and keeps both children and adults wanting to play more! This game can be purchased from Esdevium store finder and Amazon.
