Trolley Bags Review

11 December 2014 by Eileen 1 Comment

When I was asked to review Trolley Bags, the first thing that got stuck in my head was those granny bags that you bring out to buy groceries. I was so wrong! In fact, there are made up of four various sized reusable shopping bags that are used for packing your shopping at the supermarket checkout.

Nowadays, I tend to do scan as you shop as it is so much easier than getting your grocery out from the trolley and waiting at the checkout to pay. So I very much welcome this idea of using Trolley Bags.

When I received the trolley bags, my first impression was that they are quite bulky measuring 100cm x 20cm x 15cm (with 2 long rails on each bag) but fairly lightweight (around 2 kg). They are made from tough materials on the upper top and mesh on the bottom.

This is how you use it:

Once I reach the supermarket, I just simply spread the bags out on a large trolley and start shopping. The 4 individual bags are held by Velcro which can be detached when you unload the bags.  Please note that: The blue bag will actually fit into the last section of the Trolley if required which gives the bags more capacity. You simply need to lift up the base of the blue bag while it is still attached by the Velcro and drop it into the last section.

I find it very easy to sort out my grocery into the bags and there is a lot of room to place the items. The trouble I find is that I could not put big boxes like a 24 can box of Coke into the bag. The bags come in different sizes. So they suggests to put bulky products in the first two bags (numbers 3 & 4) and heavy products in the smaller bags (numbers 1 & 2).

Next is the Velcro rails (which hold the bags) although they are being covered with the cloth, it is poking out of the trolley around 6 cm on both sides, which might be dangerous to young children, just in case they don’t see it and it poke their eyes.

Once you finished the shopping, separate the bags along the Velcro rails and lift out the individual bags. If you have too many heavy items in one single bag, it can be quite difficult to lift it out. So do pack sensibly.

Overall I can see the benefit of these trolley bags. They are great for a weekly shopping but not for a quick shop. It saves so much wastage of plastic bags and also easy to sort out your grocery when you get home. If you would like to purchase these bags, you can do so from their website for £16.99: https://packingsorted.co.uk/
