Balancing Cactus Game by Plan Toys

13 August 2013 by Eileen

Have you tried balancing a cactus and managed to not get pricked by them?  Well Plan Toys have one which is safe for children!  This wooden balancing cactus game is fun and challenging. The quality of wood is superb – smooth and very colourful.  Both of my children love it.  They are unique and so different from the rest of the toys we have.

In this box, there are:

  • 1 base
  • 3 dark green
  • 3 green
  • 3 light green
  • 3 yellow
  • 3 orange
  • 3 red
  • Instructions

They are suitable for 3 years old and above for 1 to 4 players. I do feel that younger toddlers could play this as long as there is adult supervision due to potential choking on the smaller stems. There are various ways of playing the games. You could add the branches to the cactus stem. Everyone that successfully finishes building the cactus without any pieces falling wins! Or reducing the stem by not getting it to fall off. Or just build a tall or wide cactus for display!

Both of my children aged 4 and 5 find it easy to play and it encourages them to think ahead. It is easy to pop into the hole but sometimes the top piece will swivel downwards due to the weight.  All stems loosely fit into the hole. The whole cactus feels very sturdy.

This is a video of us playing with it: https://youtu.be/RSppnP8C4Ls

Overall, we love this game and I could see that this will be played over and over again. This eye catching cactus also fits well on our window display. This game is great for logic, concentration and of course family play time!

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
