Our homes are a place for us to relax and spend time with our loved ones, and if we do not feel especially thrilled in this environment, it will affect our overall enjoyment of our homes. However, we all have at least one room in our house that we are not particularly happy with, that we feel like is not quite up to scratch. Maybe our bedroom is not as relaxing or well-thought-out as possible, and lots of us need a drastic upgrade to our kitchen, but we never seem to have time for it. We all have such busy lives with kids, work, and all the other commitments, and besides hiring painters and decorators, there seems to be no way to make it any better.
Or is there?
Here, we look at some simple ways that you can give your home a new lease of life when you have limited time.
Add some artwork
Maybe you are already a lover of art, or perhaps you have nothing on the walls as of yet. Either way, adding a splash of colour and personality through some carefully curated artwork into your home is a great way to add interest and provide a talking point for people entering your home. It is a deeply personal thing, so find something that you like to look at or that represents you. If you are overwhelmed as many are when it comes to choosing art, spend some time looking at online galleries, and talk to local artists. It is a great way to support artists and benefits the world of art and culture at the same time.
Rearrange your furniture
Reorganising and reconfiguring the layout of your room can give it a whole new lease of life. It can create space and increase the flow and energy of a room, even by doing something as simple as moving your sofa from one side of the room to the other. Kids love to change their bedrooms around, and it can be super exciting, almost as though they have a whole new room! It may be met with the odd eye roll by your family, but next time you feel like a bit of a change, try moving the furniture around. It may be all it needs to feel like a whole new room, takes very little time and costs nothing.
Switch up the soft furnishings
You don’t necessarily have to change your entire dining room furniture to change the way the room looks. In the same vein, you do not need to buy a new sofa to add something new to your living room. A few different coloured cushions or throws that contrast and match with your existing decor and furnishings can make a big difference to the way that your room looks.
These are all small ways of making your home look completely different without spending lots of money or time.
