Disney Princess Wall Mural from 1Wall

8 November 2014 by Eileen

Ms C is a massive fan of Disney Princesses and owns a huge range of princess costumes and Disney figurines. Having seven Disney Princesses on her wall and being able to sleep next to them would definitely make for one very happy little princess!

Nuffnang partnering with British homeware brand 1Wall offered us an exclusive product review. The founders of 1Wall was bored with plain traditional wallpaper and they decided to set about creating original and elegant wallpaper murals to help you style any room of your home. They are based in Blackpool. The company has had amazing growth and now holds numerous product licences, including those for Where’s Wally, Moto GP, One Direction, DreamWorks and Manchester United. Thanks to them for this fantastic chance to review it.

Disney Princess Wall Mural review

This Disney Princess wall mural is ideal for most bedroom sizes. The Mural measures 1.58 metres by 2.32 metres.   It is always best to measure your room before you decided if this is suitable for your children’s room. This is a two piece wall mural which comes with top and bottom panels. When selecting the wall, if the wall is too big for the mural, you might like to paint before you paste the mural.

This mural does not come with wallpaper paste, which you need to buy via the website. It is also recommend to use wallpaper paste for this mural. I chose not to use wallpaper paste and opted for double sided tape instead. This is not my first time using double sided tape for a wall mural. In fact, it is so much easier to stick it on and remove in case your child decides to change their wallpaper in future.

My daughter’s room feature wall is 1.68 metres wide. So I left a gap of 5 cm on each side marked by a pencil. The wallpaper mural is not as thick as wallpaper you buy from a DIY store. In fact, it feels more like a good poster quality.

Once I took out the mural panels, I stuck the double sided tape on all corners. Start pasting the top panels on the left hand side of the wall and move towards the right. It took me three times to get it straight. My wall is not very straight so I left a tiny gap. It is so tiny that it’s not noticeable. On the occasions when I had to take it back down to re-fix, I stuck a new roll of double-sided tape to make sure it stuck well. Initially, I thought the mural was too big for me to handle on my own. But after my third attempt, it stuck perfectly fine – it’s more about getting the knack for it. As for the bottom panel, there is just 3 mm overlapping the top panels. It is a really good fit! There was about 7 cm left at the bottom that I used the pen knife to trim off.

I was so proud of myself that I managed to do it within 30 minutes. The result is fantastic! There are no air bubbles and there is no mess at all! Both of my children and my husband love the mural. It looks amazing. The overall ambience of her room is so much lively and brighter with pink! I would recommend them!

This is amazing. My daughter loves Disney Princess too and has some small wall transfers. I didn’t realise you could get a mural quite so big. I think I might be investing in one of those.

It looks lovely. I’m sure my girls would love this in their room too. I wouldn’t have thought of putting a mural up with tape though, good tip!

[…] Lighting can make a huge difference in an interior space. If you have rooms in your home that you don’t use very often, try switching out the lights to make the room feel more spacious and open. If you have a room you use frequently, it may be a good idea to change the lighting to help make the space feel more comfortable. You can also change the lighting in a room to give it a more modern feel. For example, you can install recessed lighting or lamps with a warmer, low-wavelength light or change out some overhead lighting with more modern fixtures. Another simple way to update the lighting in your home is to change out the bulbs in your existing fixtures. Also, freshening up your walls with different colours can be a great way to breathe new life into your home, especially in children’s bedrooms. […]
