The Game About Wikipedia: The Online Encyclopaedia is a new game based on the general knowledge questions of Wikipedia. There are three exciting games that will challenge your brain: Trivia, Page Views and Disambiguation. It is informative, it is collaborative and it’s fun!
Inside this game, it comes with 300 Wiki Theme Cards, four white boards, four white board markers, 100 tokens, a sand timer and instructions. This is suitable for aged eight and above and it is for two to four players.
Setting up this game is simple. Each player gets one whiteboard and marker and takes it in turn to ask the questions. The youngest person will start the game and the person who collects the most tokens win the game.
Each Wiki Theme card is divided into three games: Trivia, Page Views and Disambiguation. Game one Trivia has three questions. Players have to write down their answers on the board before the reader reveals the answer. I find that some of the questions were quite hard for my nine year old and even for myself. If playing with younger children, I think it is worth pairing with adults for the extra help they might need.
For the page views questions, these are based on the page views each of the 3 theme-related topics have received in one month. Some of the answers are quite interesting to know! It seems Carrots generally have more page hits than Beetroot or Cauliflower!
The last game, Disambiguation, challenges the reader and the other players to create matching lists based on the command in the shaded box. Each of them have to create a list of their top five answers in secret. This is quite fun as we have to guess what the reader would write and to match it!
We all had fun playing this game and it was very challenging! I find that this game is best to play with a group of people so that we can discuss the answers! This not only allows us to learn, it also allows us to challenge our general knowledge! What a great game from Spin Master! It is available to buy in good retailers and online.
