We were thrilled to be invited to the Anki Overdrive event in London yesterday. Mr K loves racing cars and Anki is just the type of battle-racing game that really appeals to him. We had recently seen them exhibit their newly launched Supertrucks at shopping malls and now Mr K finally had the chance to test it out at the event!
Anki Overdrive has been described as the world’s most intelligent battle-racing game, a great combination of “Scalextric, Lego and Mario Kart”. The level of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the game is unprecedented. Each supercar is a self-aware robot driven by AI. You can build tracks – big or small, of all shapes and sizes – within seconds. It is not just a racing game, cars battle each other and each has its own arsenal of weapons that you can control through your mobile device (works with both iOS and Android). You can challenge up to three of your friends or race against the computer!
With the game being software-driven, players have access to continuous free software updates, and they also bring out new pieces of kit on a regular basis e.g. Supertrucks were launched in October 2016. For more info about the game, please visit Anki.
I love the look and feel of the tracks which is simple to set up. The track is flexible and fixed together magnetically. There are many kits for you to buy to design your own ultimate track, for example, speeds, corners, collusions, rails, bank turns etc! With these kits you can create your track to go up and down bumps, over carpets and bridges, and create great racing inclines and slopes. You are no longer limited to racing on boring straight tracks!
Besides getting yourself the cool Anki kits, you will also need compatible devices like a smartphone or tablet to control it. So make sure you check before you get it. The app is easy to use and you can change lanes simply by tilting your device. To accelerate, simply push the onscreen throttle up to speed up and down to slow down. Mr K quickly got the hang of the app. The app also takes you through a series of tournaments and battles against your friends or computer, where you can earn power ups and bonuses and level up and enhance your car.
Each Supercar is very well made and takes only 10 minutes to charge. We all had a great time playing Anki and they will make a great Christmas gift for all ages! I believe my husband would also love this! If you would like to know more about the family bundle kit, do pop over to The Brick Castle to read about it. The kits are available to buy now from the Anki website, good toy stores and Amazon.
