3 main home improvement ideas that add value

6 January 2022 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Home improvements do not only offer value aesthetically, but they offer value in the long run that will impact the home when it is placed on the market. Quite often, when homes are run down on the outside, the homeowner decides to take little notice and would prefer to ensure the inside of their home is in immaculate condition instead. However, the home exterior does actually reflect on the home interior. The homes that look nice from the outside give the impression that they are nice on the inside, and vice versa. Here we will explain some ways you can add value to your property externally.

3 main home improvement ideas that add value

Improve structural defects

Structural damage can be considered as any impairments to the outside structure of your home, for example, cracks in the brickwork or ground surrounding the brickwork, damaged roof or roof leaks, as well as faults to the gutter. Although we have only mentioned a few, when you visit a property, it can be extremely obvious to detect other defects to the outside of the home. This is why they must be improved so that the value is not reduced. When improving parts of your home, it can be beneficial to improve surrounding areas so that there is not a huge contrast between the old and the new. For example, if you are fixing cracks in the wall, try to refurbish your windows at the same time, or if you are replacing the roof, why not reinstall a new aerial to replace your old, weather-beaten one? Contact mikeharrisaerialandsatellite.co.uk for any new aerial installations.

Landscaping

Your front garden/living space is another important area for home improvement. Landscaping covers anything from trees, plants, and grass to driveways, walkways, and fences. If your garden covers a large area and appears to be a large project, we would advise calling in a professional to get the job done right. However, if you are only looking to make small improvements, these can still make all the difference, for example, using a small space at the front of your home to make a flowerbed or planting some shrubs. If you are a homeowner who struggles with upkeep and maintenance, we would advise investing in a Monoblock paving driveway or maybe some artificial grass. Although they may cost a little bit more, they can also improve the home value as future buyers may need Monoblock paving for their cars, or prefer artificial grass as it requires little to no aftercare.

Add colour

Your home does not always need to be neutral coloured, if you prefer to add a pop of colour then do it! Sometimes adding colour can appeal to future buyers as the home is different from other homes they have looked at. This can range from painting the full exterior to only painting window panelling, the front door, or pillars. As well as this, during seasons, do not hesitate to add a pop of colour to your home exterior with colourful wreaths for the door or garden ornaments and decorations.
