Inateck hub HB5001 Review

13 October 2014 by Eileen 2 Comments

Having new products is not always great as it can mean incompatibility problems with older products. For example, I always have to bring my big and chunky iPad charger along as it does not charge when it is connected on my laptop. Also, I have had my laptop for over three years now and the internal fan alone is not enough to keep my laptop cool. So I had bought a laptop cooler and a mini fan to keep my laptop from overheating. This also means that I don’t have any spare USB ports when I need to charge my phone or plug my USB stick in!

My next solution is to get a hub that does fast charging for iPad and Android phones. Inateck has this Inateck Hub HB5001 which is equipped with both a 5V 4A power supply and built-in surge protection, 4 Port USB 3.0 + 1 fast charging port (5V 2A) for SamSung tablets, iPad and smartphones etc.

inateck HB5001 port hub review

Inside the box, it comes with:

  • USB Hub
  • USB 3.0 cable
  • Power cable

The hub itself is very lightweight and weighs just 80 grams. It has four rubbery anti-slip pads but it is so light that it does move around if you accidentally pull the cables too hard. It come with a silver and back finish. To operate this hub, simply plug in the power cable into the hub. The on/off button can be found on top of the hub. I love this power button as it saves me from unplugging from the mains to save electricity. It’s ‘plug and play’ with nothing to install and simple to use.

The USB 3.0 ports can’t be used for charging for iPad. Instead, only use the 5V/2A port which can be found on the side of the hub (it is clearly labelled). Even though it mentions that it is a fast port, it does take a long time to fully charge an iPad.

Now with this hub, I can use it to power my cooler base fan and mini fan and when I shut down my laptop, I just need to press the switch on the hub to stop both fans. Also I can even use it to charge my iPad!

Now they are selling at £19.99 on Amazon instead of £49.99. Their lowest price ever! It is great value for money and great for Christmas presents for anyone with numerous USB devices like me!

Do check out my review for the Inateck water resistant speaker, Inateck Bluetooth Keyboard BK1003E, Inateck 2-Port Rapid car charger, Inateck USB 3.0 Hub, Inateck laptop backpack CB1001 and Inateck camera case.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
