Ravensburger Junior Labyrinth Board Review

10 March 2014 by Eileen

I do find that Ravensburger do some very challenging board games.  Last year, we reviewed the Ho Ho Ho! Santa’s Rooftop Scramble Game, which is quite complicated and challenging.

Labyrinth Junior

Just recently, we received this Junior Labyrinth Board.  When I first opened it up, I was amazed at the structure and concept of the game.

This is a wall shifting maze game.  The game is suitable for 2 – 4 players and for ages 5 plus.  Inside the box, it comes with:

  • 1 game board
  • 17 maze cards
  • 12 secret chips
  • 4 ghosts

The game board and materials are made with a matt finish.  The cardboard used is suitably thick and should last for a long time.  Placing the maze cards around the game board are very easy but to slide them whilst playing is not very easy.  You have to be careful to hold the board down before you slide the maze cards around and also to ensure the cards are aligned otherwise it won’t slide very easily.

The object of the game is to reach the images shown on the secret tokens and collect the most tokens.  After placing the maze cards, mix the secret tokens face down on the table.  The bravest player starts the play by picking one of the secret tokens and use one of the maze cards to move the walls before moving their ghost.

We all find this game very interesting as you either have to move the walls to block other players or to allow you to reach the target images.  There’s a strategy element to the game as you plot your route through the maze.  My 6 year old son Mr K picked up the game very well.  He is able to identify the paths and to reach the images.  Ms C was not too bad but she does required help from us to determine the best route for her and moving the maze cards at times.  As for me, I was rubbish at it and didn’t win a single game!

I find this game very challenging and engaging.  This is definitely an interesting and unique game!  I would recommend it!

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
