Santa’s Rooftop Scramble Game

26 October 2013 by Eileen

Ho! Ho! Ho!  It’s Christmas Eve and Santa needs to make sure all the presents are delivered on time, and to the right addresses. In this game, you are Santa and you don’t have any elves to help you! When I first read the instructions, it looked so complicated as there are so many rules to remember! After playing for the second time though, it is in fact quite easy.

Santa's Rooftop Scramble Game

In this Santa`s Rooftop Scramble game by Ravensburger, it contains a game board, Santa playing pieces, Letter to Santa cards, challenge cards, spinner, dice, letterboxes, gift tokens and instructions. Surprisingly the whole game looks very vintage. The game board and materials are made with a matt finish. The cardboard used is suitably thick and should last for a long time. The game is suitable for 2 – 6 players and ages 5 plus. I would say this is suitable from 4 years old as Ms C is able to play it well.

To start this game, every player gets 5 Letter to Santa cards and starts in the workshop which is in the middle of the game board. Spin the spinner to collect all your presents. Once all presents have been collected, your Santa is in play and you can start making your way across the rooftops, dropping the correct presents through the rooftops. Both my children love to do it! It adds a bit of extra fun to the game!

There are a few stumbling blocks to look out for, and although there is some strategy involved, the game is mostly relying on luck. Like getting a Late Letter, Surprise or Transport card or landing on the Compass. Sometimes it can get quite frustrating when you walk pass the house and have to go around again to land on the right house. The first player to deliver all their presents wins the game. This is a wonderful and fun game that we all enjoyed. This will definitely bring some Christmas magic to your house!

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
