31 Days with Ryvita Challenge

4 January 2014 by Eileen

After all the festivities, I have no doubt that I have put on a few pounds as my regular exercise class has been on a break.  I guess bargain hunting in the January sales does count?!  We have been eating lots of chocolates, sweeties and even baking cake!  Now I need to reign that back a bit and start my healthy eating plan!

Next week, it will be a nightmare with the breakfast routine as the schools reopen and Mr C goes back to work after a long break.  But not too worry, as Ryvita has set me a new challenge for this January with 31 easy ways to spruce up a healthy eating plan.  From spicy Cracked Black Pepper to sweet Fruit Crunch, the classic rye Ryvita® Crispbread range will give this January some crunch.  I hope to be inspired with a variety of toppings, recipes and serving suggestions that will carry me through the month; completely guilt free.

31 days with Ryvita challeng

If you like to share your own healthy journey through January – join the discussion on Ryvita Facebook and Twitter: #Ryvita31ways I always like to use what I have left at home.  Theses are the example of what I have made:

  1. Cheeses: If you have cheeses that are leftover, just slice a couple and add some fresh fruits on the top.
Ryvita - Wensleydale with Cranberries and grapes
  2. Dips: We occasionally get ready made dips from the supermarket.  There are so many to choose from houmous, onion and garlic to cool salsa dip etc.  Try spreading the dips onto any Ryvita crispbread and add slice fresh fruits or vegetables with it too.
Ryvita Morocca Styles Houmous with cherry tomatoes
  3. Spreads: No time or run out of bread?  Why not try them out with peanut butter spread, apricot, strawberry jams etc!  My son loves his Nutella chocolate spread and we added it to the Ryvita crispbread for a chocolatey brekkie!
    Ryvita with nutella and grapes
  4. Olives: Slice some olives for an instant Mediterranean crunch!
    Ryvita with Olives
  5. Egg Mayo: Boil a couple of egg for 10 minutes and peel off the skins.  Mash it up and add mayonnaise, season with salt and pepper!  Easy peasy!
  6. Prawn cocktails: Buy fresh prawns or ready cook prawns from supermarket.  Mix it in with prawn cocktail sauce and it will give you an instant yummy hors d’oeuvre!  Try it if you are hosting any party!

Mmmm…I actually love Ryvita. I love the idea of putting things ‘on’ them that you would put more traditionally in a sandwich – like the prawn cocktail which looks scrummy. Less cals as no bread, and a different flavour/texture. Sounds like a winner to me.

I never even considered how many different ways you could eat ryvita – what a great way to prevent excuses for not eating properly. I’m going to pin this on my Motivation board.

I’ve no doubt thus is a great way to lose weight, but I can’t help thinking it may be a long month! Good luck#
