Last month, I was lucky to be picked by Come Round to host a Philips beauty party with 9 of my friends. Philips had kindly sent me a Philips Lumea Precision Plus and a Philips Visapura for all of us to review. Rituals Cosmetics also sent us four of their products. Thanks to Come Round for organising yet another fantastic party!
We all had a fantastic time trying out the Lumea Precision Plus and Visapura. I won’t bore you all as to how we ladies enjoyed zapping our hairy legs!
Lumea Precision Plus is an IPL hair removal system that prevents reappearance of hair. This can be used on face (upper lip/chin/sideburns), underarm, bikini area and leg. This is suitable for most types of skin tone except brownish black and darker skin tone. It can be used on black, dark brown, brown and dark blond hair colour.
It comes in a nice carry box with charger, two attachments, cleaning cloth and a Lumea. The appliance is light and comfortable to hold while treating. The cordless design with long lasting battery makes it easy to use in the comfort of your own home. Before you use it, shave the areas you intend to treat.
Secondly, choose the right attachment. There are two attachments: Body and Precision. Body attachment can be used on all body areas below the neck. Precision includes an extra integrated light filter and can be used on face or sensitive areas such as underarms and bikini area etc.
Switch on the appliance and select the intensity. My skin tone is dark brown and hair colour is black. So I have to select 1/2/3 for the treatment. Place the appliance at a 90 degree angle and begin your treatment when the status light lights up green. I was initially surprised by the heat but soon after that I got used to it and it is not uncomfortable. I have used it twice now as you are suppose to use it every two weeks. There has been no after effect on my skin. My hair growth is much slower but I will have to apply a few more weeks of treatment before I can see the final results. I believe this appliance does work for me but it will require 4 – 5 treatments for my hair to stop growing (depending on your hair growth). I am so looking forward to hairless legs!
Disclosure: I am the party host. We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
