Did you know that this year Mr Men Little Miss is celebrating their 45th birthday anniversary? They would like their fans to show off their collections online via the Virtual Archive. These will be displayed on rolling screens at Gallery@OXO, beneath the iconic OXO Tower on London’s South Bank, alongside physical items, creating an ever-changing exhibition of the nation’s most-loved Mr Men and Little Miss memorabilia.
If you happen to be in London or would like to see this interactive pop-up exhibition for children (of all ages), it will open from 25 August 2016 to 29 August 2016 from 10am – 6pm! Admission is free so why not check it out while exploring London with your family.
This Mr Men Little Miss Mini Museum has been designed specifically with children in mind, with exhibits displayed at a child’s scale throughout. It will feature hundreds of pieces of memorabilia from the past 45 years, celebrating the nation’s favourite Mr Men and Little Miss characters. You can also take time out in the Mr Men Little Miss story time library area, and take snaps of yourselves inside a specially-created ‘Happyland’ backdrop alongside your favourite Mr Men & Little Miss characters. It will also include a personalisation stand for visitors to take home their very own personalised print of a Mr Men or Little Miss character as a memento.
If you have any Mr Men Little Miss collections you would like to show off, you could simply uploading an image to the virtual archive. It will be on display on rolling screens at the exhibition and the first 45 people to upload an item to the virtual archive will receive a limited edition print signed by Adam Hargreaves.
My first memory of Mr Men is going back to my childhood reading Mr Men with my cousins on a Saturday morning at my grandma’s house. At that time, I only liked to read small books with less words! Even now I am still the same! I only like to read books with lot of pictures and less words like a magazine! My overriding memory of Mr Men books is that it made reading fun.
Then when Mr K and Ms C came along, I was excited to introduce them to the Mr Men Miss Little books! We have a box of the Mr Men series and also a DVD boxset. Ms C loves reading them with Mr C and it is always one of her default choices to read. She is like me and only likes to read books that is fun and short! She also likes fairies so no wonder her favourite book is the Little Miss Naughty and the Good Fairy!
What is your earliest memory of Mr Men Little Miss? Why not share those memories with me or even better, you could upload it onto the Virtual Archive! Then we could all see the items displayed at the museum! Remember the exhibition opens on the last week of summer for a week! Do pop by!
