Night in with Santa Maria

Last week, we enjoyed an hour of extra sleep and at the same time, we also had an extra-long night in together. We all love a lazy Sunday and we like to spend it by watching a film. So, last Sunday, we had a perfect Mexican feast watching family-friendly film Spirited Away. Spirited Away is one of my favourite Japanese cartoon movies and there’s always a sense of nostalgia whenever I introduce my children to the movies I used to watch.

Santa Maria (previously known as Discovery Foods) had kindly sent me their fajita kit to enjoy a quick and easy family night in. Inside this fantastic box, there were two flavours of fajita seasoning mix packets – hot and mild, a jar of green jalapenos, a bottle of soured cream topping, a bottle of salsa, onion & garlic dip, a packet of nacho rolls and their plain soft tortillas.

What is your mealtime conversation starters with your kids?

Experts at Goodfella’s have taken 1,000 children aged 6 – 16 kids’ suggestions and recommendations about what they like to talk about at mealtimes to create a fun guide for parents, including 10 conversation starters that are guaranteed (more or less) to get kids talking at the dinner table.

The research show that there are 31% of parents don’t know what to talk to their kids about and 58% of mums and dads admit that their kids are bored of their tired chat.  My husband and I must admit that we always ask the most common but ‘boring’ question: “How was your day at school?”.

Last week, we spent some family time eating delicious Goodfella’s pepperoni pizza.  These are the five question most interesting questions to ask children aged 6 to 12 year old.

  1. I heard you playing Justin Bieber’s new song earlier – are you and your friends all Beiliebers?
  2. We can’t wait to watch the new LEGO film…
  3. We heard that Match Attax cards are really cool – what are they all about..?
  4. What’s your favourite video game at the moment, we heard Skylanders is really good…
  5. If you could be any footballer, which one would you be?

One stop cosy night in

It is not very often we have a cosy night in together but when we do, it’s nice to get a few treats.  Instead of getting our stuff from our local Lichfield Debenhams store (read here about two fellow bloggers and me attended our local store VIP event), I now have the comfort of ordering a list of items online from Debenhams.

We don’t have babysitters so it’s not often we have a real cosy night together with just the two of us. For tonight, both children are upstairs asleep.

Cocktails and Wine Party

Whenever there is a party, there is always drinking involved!  I would like to thank all the companies who have kindly sponsored us for our bloggers night in weekend. Without them, we wouldn’t have had such an awesome gathering. Before our night in, I had read The Lazy Hostess for ideas of how to entertain and feed my guests without breaking the bank and barely lifting a finger! Following one of the seven habits of highly stress free hostesses, I asked Pippa Ainsworth  to be my cocktail bar girl! She is in charge of serving my guests plenty of cocktails, wine and non alcohol drinks.

Blogger Night In

Believe it or not! I am hosting a Blogger Night In with 9 other bloggers who I have been chatting with for over a year! For one weekend, I am housing 9 bloggers in my house!  Back in August, I wrote a blog post dedicated to all of them.  There are 13 of us in this group and unfortunately, there are three of them who are unable to come.
