After months of waiting, Debenhams is finally opening today, 16 May 2013! I was one of the lucky ones to be invited to attend their VIP Event yesterday! I went with two bloggers Sarah-Louise Bailey and Zoe Lester.
At 3 pm, we were allowed to enter the store and went back to their café for refreshment. The store manager and the Lichfield Mayor each gave a short speech and then we were set loose to wander around. We were able to shop and buy items at their sale prices. We could also test out some cosmetic products, perfume and others. Since this was a VIP event, only a handful of people were invited so it looked like we had booked the floor for our own use! It is much bigger than I remember how TJ Hughes was. They have three storeys and plenty of escalators and lifts! Thank goodness!
On the ground floor you can find cosmetics and the men’s department, the first floor is for ladies and children, while the second floor is the café and household products. I love the spaciousness which provides plenty of room to walk for pram or wheelchairs.
Debenhams should do very well in Lichfield as they are the only proper department store we have in Lichfield!
Update: Debenhams closed all stores in May 2021.
Looks like lots of fun, I’d love to have a department store to myself!
