Morrisons Make Christmas
Christmas is coming early this July! Earlier this week, Morrisons gave me a glimpse of the future, to view their latest Make Christmas display that will be coming soon in store! This was my first time attending foodie Christmas in July and I have to say I am very impressed with the varieties of Christmas products that I saw at the venue.
Morrisons is based in Yorkshire, but with over 500 stores and an online home delivery service, they serve customers all over the UK and is one of the largest food retailers. They source and process most of the fresh food that they sell though their own manufacturing facilities. They have skillful and trained professionals in their stores who prepare the fresh food in their stores. I am thrilled to learn that so much is prepared fresh in store for their customers and they listen to what their customers wants.
This coming Christmas, the butcher department is launching a Gluten Free turkey crown with a choice of stuffing topped with bacon for their customers. They will be able to prepare to the size you required! Also, they are bringing back their famous Beef Wellington pie and many more roast dishes to give you a helping hand this Christmas.
Primal Pantry Review
If you are looking for snack bars that are free of any kind of additive, preservative, flavouring or colouring, look no further. Primal Pantry are handmade in the UK and each cold-pressed bar contains no more than 6 real food ingredients and nothing else in the bar.
Amy’s Kitchen Review
This week is the National Vegetarian Week hosted by The Vegetarian Society, which runs from 18th – 24th May 2015. To celebrate this #NationalVegetarianWeek, we were invited to try out a range of Amy’s Kitchen’s delicious vegetarian and gluten free dishes.
A bit of history on Amy’s Kitchen – they began in America 26 years ago, when Andy and Rachel Berliner wanted to create delicious, healthy, natural and organic meals for health-conscious people too busy to cook. Since then they have created over 200 frozen meals and ambient products, including pizzas, pocket sandwiches, pot pies, entrées, snacks and whole meals. They also began producing a gluten free line for those with gluten intolerances, and expanding their vegan options. There are no meat, fish, poultry or eggs ever used in any of their products. In 2010, Amy’s Kitchen was brought to the UK where they have a factory producing the products for sale the same as they do in America. All the ingredients are naturally grown without the use of pesticides and other harmful chemical. Everything they sold are vegetarian and dairy cheese does not contain animal enzymes or animal rennet. To find out more on their products, go to http://amyskitchen.co.uk/
Almond & Cinnamon Cake
One of my polytechnic Chinese friends from Mauritius has always told us how beautiful his country is. Since then, I have always wanted to visit Mauritius. It possesses a range of natural and man-made attractions, tropical climate just like Singapore and with clear warm sea waters and attractive beaches.
I was thrilled when I received the Winner of Masterchef 2012 Shelina Permalloo’s Sunshine on a Plate cookbook. This book is an introduction to the homely cooking of Mauritius. Looking through the book, I found that there are a few Chinese influences on Mauritius recipes which made me even more excited! Anyway, my hobby is mainly baking cakes and pastries! So I decided to bake an Almond & Cinnamon Cake. This is my first time baking a flourless and gluten free cake. I have no idea if it will taste like an egg sponge. Very much to my surprise, it was excellent! I would definitely bake it again as it requires minimal ingredients.
