Improving your Home with Accent Features

A new year, a new start to this 2019. I am not talking about starting a new relationship but building a new relationship to love your home again. These days, we tend to lead a busy lifestyle juggling and getting the right balance between family and work. This means we tend to overlook the home we live in and there’s always a bit of wear and tear. We don’t realize it until we take a good hard look at our surroundings, especially after a good Christmas break. So here are a few ways of improving your home with accent features.

Magic Blackout Blind Review

Can you believe that summer is approaching? We all love summer but too much daylight in the evenings is not ideal for both children and adults alike as this may cause sleeplessness or interrupted sleep.

Mr K has been complaining that it’s too bright at bedtime up and that it doesn’t feel like bedtime at all. We had double layered his roman blinds but it is not helping him as the light still seeps through the material.

As a solution to such problems, the Worcester-based MAGIC WHITEBOARD™ inventor Neil Westwood has successfully launched two of their newest innovative products Magic Blackout Blind™ and the reusable Magic Notebook™.

Our future Loft Window Blind

Last week, my husband was telling me that his best friends had just bought a new home and sold their old home within 1 week. This prompted us to take a casual look for a new home too! After looking at the rightmove website, we found a few old houses with big front drives and four double bedrooms, but nothing really caught our attention. Most of them needed updating, which we don’t fancy doing right now.

We are certainly very happy with our current home but we could do with a bit more space. Recently, we had put in floorboards in our loft as we are running out of space to store the children’s junk, toys and cardboard boxes that we’re not quite ready to recycle yet. This has been such a great help to alleviate our storage problems. We did think of converting it into a loft room which we found out wouldn’t affect our council tax. However, the new owner would have to pay the extra council tax for the extra room created after the re-evaluation when buying/selling. But converting it into a loft room wasn’t an option for us as we simply didn’t have the budget for it.

So when we are able to accumulate the budget, we were thinking of converting the loft space into a guest room and a storage room. We would put a few skylight windows in the guest room, and maybe a skylight window in the storage room too. Having windows up in the loft will give the room much needed lighting and it will also provide a decent view. Of course, we were also thinking of using VELUX duo blackout blind. These are classy and stylish blinds but also blackout the sunlight which would be of great value during summer! They not only look great but are also great for energy efficiency.

Christmas Ideal Home Show with Hillarys Blind

A few weeks ago, I went to the Christmas Ideal Home Show in London. Thanks to Hillarys Blinds for the invite. This is my first time being interviewed for TV. I was very nervous and laughed quite a lot in the clip. This is an impromptu questions as I was not send the questions a day before. They answers are quite random and messy. LOL! As I am from Singapore and it is not my culture to celebrate Christmas, so we have something else different in UK.

My Summer Inspired Home Interior with Pinterest

We recently undertook two challenges and renovated our old nursery room and downstairs toilet which we are really happy with. However now every other part of our house looks like it could do with a revamp too. In particular, we need to update our Roman and Venetian blinds. These blinds were from Hillarys and they have lasted really well, but we had them installed when all our walls were magnolia from when we first moved in. Since then, we have renovated a number of our rooms and in truth, some of the blinds don’t match the decor of the rooms now.
