As the darkness of winter draws in, from a Wizarding World perspective, that means it is time for Dark Arts! To celebrate the darker side of the Wizarding World, we were so lucky to receive a selection of Dark Arts themed products from Warner Bros. Consumer Products, including their latest Junior Invisibility Cloak for the little ones, to get us into the dark side!
Last year, we got to review the Award Winning Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak, and now they have launched the Junior size edition for ages 6 up to adults with a smaller frame size! Inside the box, it comes with a 106-110cm fully patterned invisibility cloak with special effect lining, phone stand and instructions (unique product code is on the front cover).
My daughter measures 1.34m in height and the cloak is just the right length to cover all the way to her toes. The cloak features movie-accurate detailing with green silk style interior in reference to the movie prop on display at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London. The cloak is lightweight, and it is made from the same materials as the Harry Potter invisibility cloak (for adult). The difference between this Junior version and the Adult version is the length. It is roughly 30cm shorter. The cloak does attract a lot of static and we have been zapped many times while playing with it! The cloak has a hook and eye fastening at the neckline which is easy to fasten by yourself. The cloak is a well made but it is not suitable for machine or hand washing.
The phone stand is adjustable and it is suitable to be placed low down. Just like the previous one I had reviewed, I find the phone stand is a bit flimsy and not robust enough. My suggestion is to use a proper tripod instead to keep your phone in a steady condition.
Before you do any filming, make sure your device is running on iOS 11 and above for iPhone & iPad, and Android 5.0 and above for Android devices. Otherwise the Wow! Stuff app won’t work. Also, note that the unique product code is only valid for up to three devices. Make sure you pick the right device before you input the code!
As I have used the app before, I didn’t need to set up it again. It is very easy and quick to set up. The camera will disregard anything that is of a similar shade of green as the cloak, so remember to remove any green stuff away from the scene. You can record up to 10 minutes of footage or take a still photo via the app.
We tried it inside and outside the house. Now Ms C won’t have to tread on the long cloak again. This Junior size is the right length for her. We all had fun making clips to send to our loved ones who we can’t meet at the moment! This might not be everyone’s cup of tea especially as the magical effect can only be used via the app and acting. But for Harry Potter fans, this is a great item! Who wouldn’t like to have a special power to become invisible! It is also great to make Tit Tok videos with it!
